Who's written one (or more)?

How long is it? Why did you make that particular story a novella? Did you develop it with the specific intent of it being a novella, or did it just turn out that way?

Have you done anything with the finished piece?

This is the thread for sharing random thoughts about novellas and their practical purpose...

I have Trice (30,000) and Tia's World (10,000+) that are actually acknowledged novellas. I didn't plan them any more than I planned anything else, they just came out that way. A great many of my so called novels aren't nearly as long as they should be to justify that title either. Legend of Darmoor, for instance, is a grand total of 60,000 words, and it's three books! I finally just lumped them together and called it one novel.

I have no clue what to do with them. They sit around and look at me morosely, and I glare at them and demand why they aren't longer.

I have a few novella ideas, but I haven't written a novella so far. I view novellas as useful for stories that are far longer than short stories but not long enough to be novels. Novellas are hard to get published, though.

I'm currently plotting what could possibly be a novella. Or a novel. It's only in the beginning stages, but it looks like a novella. :P

I've had a couple of my writer friends self-publish novellas as one of their earliest published works. Has anyone here done that? What were your experiences?
