There's a Hemingway challenge and a haiku challenge. I thought we needed a rhyming couplet challenge!

In example:

My favorite part of the book
Is the logline, or the hook

Both lines have six words and rhyme. You don't have to have the same amount of words, though.

Rhyme away!

Wow, that was great!
Now I must create.

Are there supposed to be six words? Or any amount?

However many words you want,
In any color, size, or font

This game sounds like lots of fun,
And as for questions I should ask some;

How many lines are we allowed to write?
Is there a limit or do we go all night?

Also is there a particular theme?
Or can we write what we happen to dream?

I hope this doesn't sound obtuse
But I'm beginning to feel like Dr. Seuss

Post subject:  Re: Rhyme Challenge

Oh my goodness, what did you say?!
If that is the case, I should leave right away:

To offend is not what this rhyme should deploy;
But for me, Dr Seuss I do not enjoy.

But on the bright side, I must see:
At least there's no cat in a hat for me!

Dr. Seuss is not for me

Wait, aren't the two lines supposed to have the same amount of words, or did I read that wrong?

Fantastic.

(And the first word that came to mind that rhymed with that was "caustic" and then "elastic"...)

No, there is no limit to words we can use
The word count is up to you to choose.

That is sort of a rhyme, if you
Divide the one line into two

Why how ironic, I see that it's true:
But rhyming lines are so easy to do-

I can come up with rhymes straight off the cuff,
So you may want to tell me when you've had enough.

Post subject:  Re: Rhyme Challenge

Inside this challenge thread, rhyming can be fun
But outside the thread, it just shouldn't be done

This next rhyme is random and straight out of the blue
It's not about anyone--not them, me, or you

There is a thin line--and it is hazy
Between being a genius or crazy

What's so bad about crazy? It has been confessed,
If one is found crazy, they write novels the best.

Now this is weird, I never thought
I'd be rhyming rhymes about the Google [Bot]

But here I am and here I stay
Oh my, I'm having so much fun today!

These rhymes really do addict
But with my schedule they do conflict

And so, to save some time,
I'm afraid I must cease my rhyme

But I shall return another day
To stay with y'all and play!
Okay?

:D

The question concerns the semantics of 'smiley'
When the truth of the matter is, you see
Not very important at all

Smilies seem to make some people confused
So perhaps, therefore, they should not be used

Author:  BushMaid [ February 28th, 2011, 9:55 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Rhyme Challenge

But smilies animate my face,
That you cannot see from your place.

But I guess, if you must insist,
I will refrain, I will resist;

Not to use a smile so cheery,
And end this rhyme oh so dreary.

Author:  Aragorn [ February 28th, 2011, 10:06 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Rhyme Challenge

Smilies are just fine, and animated you may be
It just seems wise not to end a line with a smilie

The first thing I would like to say,
Is please do not ask me to go away.

I know my rhymes may not be smart
But they are spoken from my heart.

Some famous rhymes are now the stuff of dreams,
Like diamond necklaces or strawberry creams.

Others are written for people to see
Translated into languages for many a country.

So depise not these beginnings of mine which are small;
Without your help, I could falter and fall.

Hey, BushMaid, do you remember the time
When RedOwl introduced herself, and asked us to rhyme?
You made a nice rhyme, but it was welcoming me,
And it caused you embarrassed to be.

I barely knew you way back then.
Now I think of you as a friend.

My lovely Aemi, almost a tear
You bring to my eyes, sweet dear!
An expert poet are you, I see;
Do accept this one from me!

And yes Elanhil, I think it's bout time
To hear from you a lengthy rhyme.
I haven't heard your skills just yet;
But I'm sure it wouldn't be one to forget!

Well I am late for this rhyming game,
So lesser then yours is my rhyming name,
But still I will at least hope to succeed,
In making a rhyme, a quite simple deed.

So here I go again, still writing away,
Even how good it is, I couldn't say,
But I will still write rhymes, with fingers like fire.
But after a while, my fingers are sure to tire.

Did I do it right? :dieshappy:

Not long ago,
Filled with rap battle ways,
Ah the rhymes we could flow.

Once you have practice,
Your lines form ideally,
With no mental fracas.

I sort of want to join this thread,
But into the world of rhymes I fear to tread,
You all seem to write without a thought,
I, on the other hand, do not,
It seems to me that my rhymes aren't great,
And because of that "I'm sorry" I say,
But I just couldn't resist,
Attempting to awake the fun I have missed,
All right, this post is getting quite long,
Thus I shall leave you all with lyrics to a song,
I hope your days go oh so well,
And now I say "So long; farewell!"
