| Eh... my style of mapping seems to be SEM in reverse. I put the dashes after the categories instead of before the metaphors. That's easily fixed, I suppose, if I wanted to be consistent. Darlene spends my whole book being dead. She doesn't die at the beginning of the book, she doesn't die in the book at all. Not even the prologue. The book starts with Darlene dead and she stays that way. However, she's one of my favorite characters and some might even say she's a main character, since everything that happens happens because of/for her. So she got an essence map. Body – Hair – Color – Raven feathers Shadows at night A deep hole Texture – Silk A new puppy Build – Slender – Bamboo shoots Willow wand Delicate – Snowflakes Indoor plants Eyes – Sparkle – Ripples on a pond Stars in the morning Depth – An endless path A thick forest Color – Doeskin Seasoned wood Dark honey Spirit – Free – A river rushing to the ocean An untamed horse Unsullied/unbroken – A perfect garden A pond covered with lilypads A field of flowers Timid – A startled doe An uncertain lover Fear/uncertain – Gathering thunderclouds Gentle – Tender – New lettuce plants Spring time leaves Caring – A new mother A gardener Soul – Honesty – Open – A large book A still lake Love – Strength – An old oak Unchanging/unyielding – A mountain range Courage – Lion Mother hen facing a fox Will – Unstoppable – A little child growing up The tide Persistent – A child wanting candy A boulder being worn away by water | |

| Thanks, ya'll. Darlene and Christiana are actually very similar characters, and I was trying really hard not to use the same metaphores I'd already used for hers. | |

| Pretty! Darlene is a great character, an essential part of a soon-to-be great book. | |

| Love the fact a dead character has an Essence map. How awesome. Great job, Jaynin! | |
