Colors represent mood, feelings, and even symbols. Blue for nobility, white for purity, etc. Somethings just make us think of a certain color. (My siblings and I used to associate certain colors with different countries.) So what color are your characters?

Interesting thread, Jaynin. :D I'll dig up some of my older characters to try this out on.

Jayan - gold. Mature, royal, noble. I can't exactly explain why, but gold makes me think of Jayan.
Aláthia - green. It's natural, fresh, pure, etc, all of the attributes I associate with Aláthia.
Daechk - blue. Nobility, maturity, wisdom. That's Daechk. ;)
Cirwyn - red. Fiery, sharp, contrasting, sometimes symbolizing violence, etc. That's Cirwyn, all right. :P

I guess I'm pretty patriotic...here go my main characters :)

Zaciré - Definitely blue. He's loyal, he's set in his ways, just everything I associate blue with.
Numaryá - Probably white. She has a grace and peace about her but an inner strength. I also think of snow whenever I think of Numarya...
Samsvar - Red. It's the color of war, but also of love--the contrasts in that match Samsvar perfectly (for more reasons than you think)

Meredith- Sky blue. (Of course, that's not a very good sky blue, but that's besides the topic.)
Paul- Yellow.
Felicity- Lavendar.
Leslie- Blue.
Logan- Orange.

Let's see here...

Kai - Dark grey. He's neither for good or evil (at the start of the story, with this new change I made to his personality, at least). He's not ruthless, but not noble.

Klasina - White and red. She is innocent, but ends up on the receiving end of a lot of violence. (don't tell Kai)

Roel - Midnight blue. He's noble, strong, etc, but has a tendency to get in trouble and end up on the wrong side of things.

For my NaNo...

Aarin - Deep red. Because he has violent tendencies and his past has been scarred by violence against his family.

Tulio - Sky/pale blue. It's a somewhat happy color, and Tullio (on the outside) is always happy. The fact that it is still blue, although not a cold blue, indicates that inside he still is bitter.

Eorina: So many colors could describe her... namely, bright yellows and greens. She's so happy, any cheerful color would fit.

Then there are all my minor characters to whom I have already assigned colors, but I shouldn't list them, there are too many. :D

Kaida: Dark, dark purple. She doesn't have the darkness of actually black but she's very closed and mysterious, not to mention unpredictable.

I don't have the others yet...

I thought I'd give this a try for some the character's I'm still working on for some new book ideas.

Chayton - Dark, deep blue. Mysterious, calm, loyal, with hints of turmoil.

Evenstar - White and light blue. Innocent, curious, quiet, loyal, trusting, wisdom.

Kali - Reddish-brown. Plain, earthy, tomboyish, different, stubborn, quick, rebellious.

Kattie - Red. Fiery, relentless, quick-tempered.

Sometimes my mind associates colors with characters, and other times characters go through life nearly colorless.

From Alaidia, Peter has always been strongly associated with an ice blue. It's the color of his eyes, and it matches with his light blond hair. It also symbolizes, to me, Peter's character. Strong, sharp. The purity and nobility of white with the pride of blue. Dependable, yet sometimes intimidating. A righteous but presumptuous prince.

Edwin (whose existence is in question at this point) is more loosely associated with the color emerald green. Again, it's the color of his eyes, matched with the color of his hair. It also fits the organic and Irish feel I have tried to portray for his burly - but soft-hearted - character.

Other characters have colors that they typically wear, as well as colors that identify them as part of their physical appearance, but the associations aren't as strong. When I think of black I don't automatically think of Meriah, even though that's the only color she wears. (At least in the old versions... this is all subject to change.)

Leslie: Light blue. I described him once as "chiseled of ice and wind." Like Phili's peter, it matches his eyes, and his blond hair. :D

Charles: yellow. Pompous, over dressed, over confident, lazy. :?

Lightning: Black. dark, sinful, hiding, afraid.

Christiana: pink. Or white, but mostly pink.

Katherine: red. She has red hair, a fiery spirit, and is very passionate.

Myra: green. Cool, calculating, deep.

Aaron has always fit well with deep crimson in my mind. He's subtle and straightforward and very noble.

Iri is a bright, almost gaudy green. He fits that color because it is (among other things) a color associated with poison. It's also a little overbearing and very bright, both of which he is.

Wyn is a soft lavender with an icy blue hint in it. She's soft and tough by turns and doesn't shy away from hard jobs. The lavender really carries her innocent side.

"Chiseled of ice and wind"... Can I borrow that? :) After you write Leslie a bit more, I want to compare him with Peter, see how close they are.

Sure. That's from the excerpt I sent you, the one from Yancy's POV. I describe all the suitors in a very abstract manner, that I intend to salvage in the new draft somehow. :D

How old is Peter? (Leslie is 19.) Once I finish the part he's in I'll take a break and type it up so you can see.

Charlotte Wilkon's color would be green. Green for life or living, a vitality.

Lucius Harlington would be silvery blue/grey. Because that color has a calm and laid back feel to it.

Sorry I missed this! Um, in the current version, Peter is approx. 19. :D Thanks for reminding me (indirectly) to post that backstory! Somewhere...

Looking forward to it! :D

Christine is yellow. Yellow's normally considered happy, but my character is sad and pained.
