Unless you write by hand, you probably use a word processor. There are a lot of word processors out there, so I thought it would be interesting to find out, in opinion of the writers who use them, what ones work the best.

What word processor do you use?

Why do you like the one you use?

Is there anything you don't like about it?

Do you use more than one?

Is there any word processor you tried, didn't like, and want to warn other people about?

What do you mean by Word Processor? (Can you tell I'm not a very technologically advanced person?) XD

Whatever computer program you use to write in. I guess the most common one is Microsoft Word.

I write by hand, firstly.

I have Microsoft Word and Open Office. My dad, (and everyone else who loves opensource,) wish I would use Open Office exclusively, but I like Word better.

I use GoogleDocs the most. :D

I do some writing by hand, but mostly development type stuff, little facts about characters, worlds or creatures that I want to remember. Occasionally, I've used OpenOffice for writing. I'd take OpenOffice over Word any day. ;)

I use Word almost exclusively. GoogleDocs is good for sharing, but I don't usually use it for drafting. Publisher is handy if you need to do extensive formatting, but I generally don't do extensive drafting in it, either.

I've never had any major complaints with Word, though occasionally it will be ornery.

I am a very satisfied and exclusive Microsoft Word 2007 user. The only things I write by hand are my Musings, Mullings, and Mutterings. I love it!

I use Pages and StoryMill and I love them both very dearly. Pages is your typical word processor + page layout/graphic design program. I designed a children's literary webzine using Pages exclusively. It's a Mac-only program (which is sort of sad because it's awesome). I like it because there is a lot you can do with it, plus it is intuitive and easy to use.

StoryMill is more for organization; there are different "views" within the same file so that you can organize character profiles, scenes, chapters, etc. I used StoryMill for this year's NaNo and loved it. It's great for keeping all you information for one story organized into one file rather than having scattered notes all over your computer. ;)

Those are the only two that I use. Ever. I like them so much I don't have any reason to switch.

(No, Apple isn't paying me to write this. :P)

Ah, I see!

I ALWAYS write my stuff down on paper first. I've had too many bad experiences with some of my original stuff getting lost in technology. *tear* Then I type it up on Microsoft Word (2007 version). Occasionally, I'll type Random Spurts of Words on the computer, but that's about it.

I use Microsoft Word 2010--haven't looked back to OpenOffice since I got it =) The web version of Office works well (better than Google Docs IMHO) but I don't use it much. =) And I do no writing on paper--sad but true. =(

I use Microsoft Works. I like that it starts out with a lot of common sense features, while with most other word processors you have to go in and tell them to initiate those features. It's not perfect, though, and it's showing its age.

What word processor do you use?
I use WordPad and WordPerfect and yWriter version 5.
Why do you like the one you use?
I like WordPad because it's simple and doesn't have spell-check. There are pros & cons to both, because of spell-check, I have to edit manually. However, with WordPerfect, you can turn spell-check off when you write, so it's not a distraction.

Is there anything you don't like about it?
Oh, definitely! WordPerfect macros always (ALWAYS!) mess up on me. :? And WordPad is hard to insert pictures into. And my yWriter5 is confusing, because you can't look at the book in a whole, you have to look at one chapter or scene at a time, so I normally use that for basic outlining, and keeping all of my charries in line. ;)

Do you use more than one?
Yes. yWriter, WordPad, and WordPerfect.

Is there any word processor you tried, didn't like, and want to warn other people about?
No.

I use Word, all the time. :D I never thought to use anything else... I write my outline, odd chapters, etc. in a spiral bound notebook though. Easier for my thoughts to flow through a pen rather than the keyboard. ;)

I use Word 2010 and Pages at the moment (and paper!). Both of them work well, and I like that Pages has a fullscreen mode, so I don't get quite as distracted when I'm writing!

Also, I'm going to get Scrivener soon, so I'm excited to see how it works! :)

I've never heard of that. Tell us how it is, if you would!

I used to use Microsoft Works Word Processor, but Mom finally convinced me to start using Microsoft Word after we got the 2010 version of it. I actually like it a lot better now that I'm used to it. I've never used any other programs that I remember, other than a couple random note things in Notepad (though I don't think that counts ;) ).

I'm apparently the only one still using Works. :D

Has anyone used Atlantis or AbiWord?
