This language's vocabulary is scanty, a hundred words or so at the best. Most, but not all, of these words are roots from which I can create words if I like. For example, tyyrien, in my signature, combines the roots of "power" (tyyr) and the suffix "-ien" (one who does, like -or in sailor). This translates as "God." However, it is not the vocabulary and root system that is my main topic (I think there is another thread about the drawbacks of such a root-based system and what-not). My main point is on the actual writing style. I have effectively created (though development continues) the written language, and can write and read it proficiently. The words "Holy Worlds" in the current form of the script are attached to this post. For starters, the form of each character can be evaluated. All consonants are formed with either a descending oblique line from left to right, an oblique line descending from right to left, or a vertical line, and then attachments to the line. Vowels always have a bar across the top and stuff attached to it. Both vowels and consonants may have dots which are not attached to the lines. This language is read from left to right, top to bottom. The first character in the image is the "h" consonant character. So far so simple. The next character is where things get fun. You may notice that the word "Holy" is only three letters long. This is accomplished via my vowel-consonant combination system. The second character is the "o" (as in open) vowel with the consonant "l" next to it yet smaller. This turns ordinary "o" (as in open) to the "o" sound we hear in "old." The same goes for the second character in the second word. That is the "i" sound in "stick" with line and hook of an "r" attached to it at the right end of its bar. Beneath the hook is another small "l." That is the first time I have ever had two vowel modifiers on the same vowel character. All the other characters are unmodified and essentially substitutes for the English characters with only one key exception: all vowels. I realized that the "e" in the word "egg" is very different from the one in "evil." Thus all vowel sounds have their own characters, not just each vowel. Not present in this example is the use of dipthongs, where two letters make one sound. A common English example is "th." In the Red World High Tongue, all/most dipthongs are made with a single character. I suppose later I will re-post on this if people are interested, with more images and examples. |

I don't see any image. But--your language sounds incredible. Now I really want to see the image! Is it pronounce the same as English? i.e. same sounds, etc. What's the sentence order? eruheran |

This is fascinating. I think it's amazing that you developed such an in-depth system! You put a lot of work into it. Very pretty script, too. More samples would be eagerly viewed, at least by me. |

Tomorrow or this weekend I plan to scan in the original sheet of paper on which this language was first written. I'll have to edit it a little to get rid of some vowels that have since been eliminated by the attaching the mini l's and r's and such, but that should demonstrate the formal appearance of most of the letters. Obviously, when you write quickly with a pencil, the letters aren't so neat looking. I sign my name for my homework in this language, as well as write the date and other stuff like that. |

Well I finally have actually scanned it and got it onto my internet capable computer. Here is the scan of the first sheet on which the language was recorded. Some stuff isn't perfectly accurate (some of the vowels have been removed do to the mini r and l system).
