I have no clue what forum to put this in. I picked this one because I need help with riddles as directly relates to Lightning Ranger, but this thread can be used for discussion of riddles in general.

Everyone who's read "The Riddle-Master" becomes possessed of the desire to use more riddles in their own writing. I am no exception. Lightning Ranger Part Three is centered around a riddle. It needs to make sense, not be stupid, and right now I'm slightly clueless.

A labrynth like castle, owned by a madman, set in the middle of nowhere, called S.S.S. (which stands for we don't know what any more, Vilisse is helping, :D ). No one who enters ever escapes and over the door is a riddle. Here's the problem.

The riddle has two answers. The most common answer convinces everyone that they'll never escape, but that's not the true answer. Lightning eventually figures out the true answer, which is the key. I'm not against adding in puzzles or codes or such like, but either way I cannot fathom what this riddle is.

Thoughts? You can help me by either giving riddle suggestions or asking questions that make me come up with my own riddle. and of course, you are more than welcome to get me to return the favor and help you with your own riddle problems. :D

Thanks!

First: how do you actually get out?
I'm guessing there's only one way, so what it is?
do you fall down something? open a door? climb out?

Suggestions if you don't know:
false wall, a specific series of thing you have to do (door to the left, hallway to the right, tunnel to right, ect.), a specific direction (like; always go East), find a specific object and it'll get you out...

If you do something like direction and object. You could have the direction as the wrong answer and the object as the right one. So everyone thinks all you have to do is go in the same direction when you really have to find an object that has to do/is related to that direction.

If you do the series of directions you could have people follow them, but not realize, when they come to the end there's a false wall. Everyone simply thinks they followed the directions to a dead end.

If you do the series of directions and the one direction. You could have the one direction, say...South. everyone thinks its simply go South, but it's really an acronym for...um...
S - straight
O - opening
U - up
T - tight
H - hallway
meaning: pass the first door/opening/hallway and go straight. Then go straight until you come to the next opening. Follow it until you go up (either stair or a rise). Once you go up the stairs you look for the next tight/small opening and go through it. After you come out of that you go to the next hallway and repeat all five steps until you're out.

Acronyms for North, East and West: N - nasty, O - opposite, R - right, T - tapestry, H - hallway, | E - end, A - all, S - straight, T - table | W - wide, E - easy, S - stairs, T - tight

I'll help come up with meanings if you like :D

Wow.... that was a bit more than I thought it would be  shutting-up sir! :x

That's very interesting, Vil. ^.^ I don't have anything to contribute right here, I generally have no idea what I'm talking about when it comes to riddles. Though I do use them. Generally I just come up with a poem/phrase that I think sounds cool then come up with a meaning for it.

But it generally doesn't out very /good/, but I don't know how to make it any /better./ Needless to say, this is a great thread. ;)

I'm distracting myself from school :P

Some riddle ideas I created for you if you went with the south idea.

"Feathered singers will flee to me and the frozen wind will shout the letters of my name."

"Singers fall from above,
Shouting my title as they,
Strive to flee the freezing land"
(^ a little S.S.S. tribute  )

"Singing feathers:
Over land,
Under sky,
They fly,
Home."
(^ this could almost have 3 answers: Bird, South, and SOUTH)

"My title shouts my name."

Kk, enough distracting.... for a while... why do finals make me more creative?
