| I don't know what happened, but last night it was like something clicked in my brain when I was reading Amanda's essence map for Aaron. I was profiling Charlotte in my "Random Book Characters" notebook and thought I'd try an essence map or make one up. After reading Aaron's I found it pretty straightforward and figured out (to a point) how to set up the syntax. Here is my very first ever essence map!!! I hope it makes sense. ><;; (Feel free to lend any tips.) Charlotte Ann Wilkons Personality{ ..................Outward[ ................................Vibrant( ............................................< Fourth of July sparklers > ............................................< noontime sun > ............................................< spectrum of color >) ..............................Dramatic( ............................................< light and darkness > ............................................< climax of a story > ............................................< the unveiling of something new >) ................................Joyous( ............................................< signs of spring > ............................................< a break in the clouds > ............................................< new life >)] ..................Inward[ ..........................Thoughtful( ............................................< caressing wind > ............................................< water lapping the shore > ............................................< a bird in the sky >) ............................Stubborn( ............................................< an unbroken horse > ............................................< hair on a humid day > ............................................< a child who won't eat their vegetables >) ..............................Loyalty( ............................................< Canadian goose to its mate > ............................................< solider to their country > ............................................< sunrise to sunset >)] Body{ ..................Head[ .................................Hair( ............................................< sunlight on honey > ............................................< lightly stained maple wood > ............................................< curls like wood shavings >) ................................Eyes( ............................................< dappled sunlight through tree leaves > ............................................< color of Spanish olives > ............................................< window to the soul > ............................................< a sudden storm >) ................................Arms( ............................................< sturdy limbs of a young oak > ............................................< graceful as willow boughs >) ...............................Hands( ............................................< fluttering butterflies >)] | |

| *dances around* Nice job! I think at the end of the map you do the parallel brackets, but that was all I could think of. Calenmiriel wrote: Hands( < fluttering butterflies >) Something like that, but you would do it for the other brackets too. Let me know if I just confused you... | |

| Ummm, you mean putting the analogy in parentheses? Example: Hands( .......................(fluttering butterflies)? | |

When you finish doing "Outward," you use ] at the end of that section to show you are doing something else (aka "Inward")

| Yeah, except you apply it to the other brackets too. | |

| And that happens also when you finish an aspect. Personality{ ..................Outward[ ................................Vibrant( ............................................< Fourth of July sparklers > ............................................< noontime sun > ............................................< spectrum of color >) ..............................Dramatic( ............................................< light and darkness > ............................................< climax of a story > ............................................< the unveiling of something new >) . . . ............................................< hair on a humid day > ............................................< a child who won't eat their vegetables >) ..............................Loyalty( ............................................< Canadian goose to its mate > ............................................< solider to their country > ............................................< sunrise to sunset >)]} Nice map, by the way. I really like the sunrise to sunset metaphor. | |

| Thanks, Philli! Believe it or not, I had to think really hard of a good example for curly hair...it's not wavy nor is it ringlets. Since my dad demonstrates time period coopering I get to see all the wood chips he makes. They make great temporary bracelets too. Note: For those who don't understand what I'm talking about: Coopering: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooper_%28profession%29 1800's-1840's is the time period my family portrays in rendezvous when we re-enact. | |

| You do reenactments? Awesome! I really like the essence map--for a first one it looks great. But I didn't see anything wrong with the syntax...did you edit it since Shawn and Elanhil showed you what's what? eruheran | |

It's like coming to a family reunion! We do about 3 rendezvous from September-October. We also host one at our place in April, but it's going to be in June this year due to the poor weather we've had for the past 3 years. Why thank you, eruheran! I was excited, yet tentative about it since it was my first one. :3 Ahahaha! Yes, like Shawn said, I edited it after receiving help from Elanhil and Shawn herself.
