I assume, if there is a romance taking place in your story, that it's between two people. Give an introduction of these two people, their personalities, and how they meet.

okay, I'm not giving the others away but here's about how it goes...

Guilo Nova: He doesn't trust people a lot but he's a loyal friend. He grew up in a laboratory and has golden wings like an eagle.
Eryn (no last name yet): She's a shy orphan who just found out her father isn't dead, just invisible. She loves horses. They met at school but didn't start talking to each other until Kaida showed Eryn through on of the portals.

and another interesting one...

Amos Williams: Former drug addict and murderer (it was sort of an accident he's not scary anymore). Mo is slightly introverted because he's not sure what people think of him.

Lyna (no last name yet): She's just happy to be alive. Willing to see the best in people but knows when there's bad. She's enthusiastic about everything she does. They met when Mo cast a demon out of her.

Agh, for a second I was hoping you were going to post some sort of guide to writing good romance. Oh well ;)

Zaciré is a head-strong young guy that's been tasked with recovering the Dagger, an ancient artifact of great importance in Enderion. He is forced to bring Numarya with him on this quest, a move he thinks will only cause him grief and inconvenience (he's pretty prejudiced)
Numarya is a girl that came to the Enclave (where Zacire lives) an orphan. She accompanies Zacire on the quest not because she finds him such a great person (she really dislikes him) but because her father had a hand in the theft of the Dagger.

That's about it. Their relationship gets pretty complex, but I won't go indepth here =) Unless you want me to.

Hmmmm, let's see.

Lucius James Harlington and Charlotte Ann Wikons. Description and personalities will be found at this thread: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=1019

(I didn't want to repeat myself, so I posted the link instead of having two copies here in The Forge/Character Development.)
When they meet, Lucius is twelve and Charlotte is ten and half.

How they meet:

Lucius' family moves from the city to the countryside place near Charlotte's family. Charlotte is playing beside a massive blooming crabapple tree when Lucius' kite is taken by the wind and gets stuck in the tree. Charlotte sees the kite and Lucius comes running up to the crabapple. Charlotte had climbed up the tree, skirts and all, to retrieve the kite for him. They become best friends who grow closer as they grow up, and eventually fall in love.

That's about it, because I'm haven't finished the novel yet and I don't want to spoil anything I might post on Holy Worlds sometime later. ;)

(Sorry, I'm quite a sap for romance. Pure romance.) :3 (Like the Princess Bride!) :D

Zac and Nummy's relationships = WIN! :D And you didn't think it was going to happen. :x *is trying to say I told you so* ;)

LOL!

Let's see...

Csilla--bright, perky, loves people, loves children, hardworker, isn't content with her station in life and is working to change it. Pretty, funny, outgoing, street-savvy.

Cintan--dark, brooding, slightly reclusive, loves children, hardworker, isn't content with his station in life, but doesn't think he can change it. Average looking, darkly humerous, sarcastic, street savvy.

They grew up on the streets together and they fell in love as they got older.

Post subject:  Re: Romance

Shawn is clever, bubbly, funny, and doesn't back down easily once she has sunk her teeth into it. Her parents died when she was two, and she has an older brother who watches out for her.

Jay is impetuous, protective, imaginative, adventurous, and has an abundant dose of slapstick humor. His family consists of his parents, an older brother, and an older sister.

How they meet: Shawn and Jay played together for years, and went to school together until 5th grade or so. Then Shawn moved away, and they didn't see each other again for years. Jay is working on his last case as an (NSA) agent, and runs into some trouble with the bad guys. He escapes and runs to hide behind a cabin in the middle of nowhere. Shawn had been staying there in hiding with the WPP, as she was a "coincidentally" a witness in the case Jay was working on, as he later finds out. After the case/trial, Jay leaves the Agency, and they catch up (as friends). Later Jay asks her to marry him, and she accepts.

EDIT: I have a major rework of this that I will post as soon as I can.

Edit again: Done! :D

Post subject:  Re: Romance

The one instance of romance in my stories so far (save the story in which I can't decide who should marry whom... <grin> or perhaps they're all siblings and NOBODY will get married. <evil writer laugh>):

Skye is passionate, vivacious, and compassionate.

Lukas is reserved, calm, slightly sarcastic/cynical, and very professional -- but passionate in his own way about the things he cares about.

Skye is a scientist with a heart for the outcasts. As a child, the orphan Lukas was crippled in a carriage accident, nearly causing his and his disabled toddler sister's starvation. However, Skye stumbled across the child one day and took her in. She gave Lukas technology to allow him to walk again.

Over many circumstances, they ended up falling in love when they were old enough. They planned to marry, but Lukas was tragically killed when protecting Skye's lab from a burglary. Skye had previously left the city for her own protection. A few days after the death of Lukas, when Skye was supposed to return, it was discovered that she had left the country completely after hearing what had happened.

I need to tweak everybody's ages in this story to make everything make sense... but the idea is that Skye is a year older than Lukas; Meadow (the sister) is about five to ten years younger than Lukas and about the same age (within a couple years) of the main characters Krystal & Evander (twins). :D Confusing, eh?

And it doesn't end as tragically as it sounds...

It better not, Mel!

Arionwyn and Aaron
Aaron: quiet, steady, extremely loyal, serious, pretty content, dry humor when it's least expected. The epitome of "tall, dark and handsome". ;)

Arionwyn: impulsive, naive, outgoing, thoughtful at times, a little vulnerable but dangerous all the same.

These two meet around the beginning of my story and are close friends all throughout, with the occasional argument, but they always make it up. Around the end of my story, at a party, he and his best friend act out a legend in dance format and Aaron 'wins' Arionwyn. He then takes her to the place they first met and proposes. :D Their friendship is pure, as is their eventual marriage.

Chayten and Nyvien

Chayten: demanding, dark, forceful, bossy, not entirely loyal. Enigmatic at times, very unpredictable especially when angry.

Nyvien: jaded, sorrowful, dangerous, intelligent, sophisticated, a little bossy but not as much as Chayten. Believes in multiple gods, which is rather a problem but was ignored by Chayten in favor of her beauty.

These two meet when Chayten betrays his home country (Carseld) and goes to the side of the enemy invading country (Andun), eventually working his way up to the Head of the Dragonriders in that army. He and Nyvien were secretly meeting and though this is frowned upon in Andun, it is not explicitly prohibited as it is in Carseld. They are caught kissing in Nyvien's private tent. This is after Chayten rejoins his country and she is captured by the Carseldian Riders and paid to be a spy for their side. Chayten sends her away because she wants things to be as they were in Andun when they were free to do what they wanted. Chayten's newly formed but still shaky morals get in the way. He regrets it.

Fairivel and Nyvien

Fairivel: sophisticated, intelligent, strict, refined. Lord of the Laeclan Elves.

Nyvien: jaded, sorrowful, dangerous, intelligent, sophisticated, a little bossy.

These two meet after the battles are over and after Nyvien rescues his son Iri from a bloody death at the hands of an Andunian captain. Both of them are lonely and both have lost their homes to the war. Their friendship is still developing and nothing significant has happened between them by the end of the first book, but in the second things might get a little more heated. Chayten is obviously jealous of the two but doesn't dare interfere.

If any of you were confused by that, I don't blame you. Feel free to ask about it, but please PM me instead of derailing the topic. I have a little more that I'll post later. :)

I think I mostly understood yours, Lady E. :D The only thing I might note is that for clarity you might want to insert whatever happened to Iri's mother into the bit about Favriel. (I assume she's dead)

(...well, it's not common knowledge how not-tragically it all ends...but if you PM me I'll explain it. :D)

Post subject:  Re: Romance

My romances are a tangled, horribly, multi-triangled mess...

Janin and Darlene

Janin is charming, brave, the heir to a powerful throne, and at the time is having a difficult time with his family relationships.

Darlene is pretty, ambitious, a bit tomboyish, and longing for adventure.

They meet when Janin accompanies Herene, his cousin and Darlene's brother, to his home for the summer. Janin is escaping some uncomfortable incidents with his brother and Darlene makes it her mission to cheer him up. When Janin returns to his own country they promise to exchange letters and do so faithfully until Christmas time, when Janin's father, seeing what is going on, invites Darlene's family to Yen where Janin proposes.

Janin and Katherine

Janin is heartbroken by the death of his fiancee and blind with anger against the man who was indirectly responsible for her death.

Katherine is an only child and heir to a mortal throne. A queen on the throne would be unusual, and her father insists she marry so he can arrange the inheritance for her and her husband.

Janin follows his vengeance into Katherine's court. He poses as a suitor until a suitable time when he can confront the man he's hunting, but when weeks go by without a suitable opportunity arising he has time to reconsider his actions and decides to stay for another reason. Katherine is captivated by his honor and and forthrightness, a quality missing in her other suitors. Janin finds in her company a little of what he lost with Darlene. At first he feels guilty over betraying his dead love, but soon realizes that maybe love is what he needs to heal.

Derek and Katherine

Derek learned at a young age how to take care of himself. After arranging the marriages of both his younger sisters he sets about winning a bride for himself. Besides being the most beautiful woman in the land Katherine is educated, spirited, heir to an immense kingdom, and known for her virtue.

Katherine notices Derek first as the companion of Janin. She is intrigued by the latter, but finds in Derek a friend she can trust. When Janin disappears without a word, she realizes it was Derek she loved all along and gives him her hand.

Post subject:  Re: Romance

Well Melody, Iri's mother (Varia Moonchild, for those of you who want to know) basically seduced Fairivel in order to control his kingdom through him. He fell for it, but she underestimated him and wasn't able to control it as fully as she thought. Iri was an accident. She basically ran off after she had him and only reappeared whenever she felt like it, which wasn't often.

She did show up on Iri's nineteenth birthday to introduce him to the dark power of the Unspoken, which ran in his blood because of her, and then disappeared again. Only does things that suit her purposes. :P Fairivel has been lonely (though he'd never admit it) ever since Iri left when he came of age. Do you think he's justified in seeking another?

Another bit of romance. I've left out the name of the female for the sake of plot spoilers, because this is one major element of the plot I do not want to give away.

Faulkner and _______
Faulkner: serious, honorable, mature, dangerous to those who oppose him, loyal, sharp, a hunter.

______: self-sacrificing, optimistic, noble, loyal, a little proud.

An unlikely combination, Faulkner is full-blooded elf and ______ half. He is a Rider, she of royal blood. However unlikely, these two were married for several years before disaster struck in the form of an invasion from the neighboring country of Andun. The two were separated; Faulkner captured by the Andunians and she presumably lost in battle. I'm not sure how they met.
