| Another (pair) of creatures from my series. Nothing too special... H'rost Basically a horse, but with antlers. They have longer legs, back, neck, and face compared to a horse. They can also speak and run fast than a horse (because of their longer legs). The Ashtains wrote: Avast glanced up at the sky before urging his white mount forward. The tall legged steed broke into a trot, its long face bobbing up and down. In many ways it resembled a horse with the only differences being large antlers that protruded from the animal’s forehead and its elongated legs, back and neck. These changes were required because of height of the rider and role the animal took in protecting itself. The animal’s name was Darjee and it belonged to the species called Hrost. H'nagg An exact duplicate of the H'rost, but twisted by Natorii (just like the Zarack were twisted Ashtains). H'nagg can only be black, with red eyes and red antlers. Their skin is also scale-like and is harder to penetrate than normal skin. The H'nagg do not have the ability to speak. The H'rost serve the Ashtains, while the H'nagg serve the Zarack. They are the prefered mount for Ashtains and Zarack because of their height and speed. Both races have heightened smell and can see well in dark (the H'nagg more so). | |

| Very cool races, to be sure. When you say Elongated, by just exactly how much? I like the way you have two parallel races. | |

| Um, right now I'm sort of picturing an elk or deer with a horse tail and long body. Is that right? Would they be intelligent or just like a regular animal? I like the parallel races too. | |

| Think more of a horse's body with deer antlers. (maybe deer feet too, I haven't decided) The H'rost are intelligent (one of them is the second-in-command to the king of the Ashtains at one point) But the H'nagg lost most of their intelligence along with their ability to speak when Natorii changed them. Elongated? Well, the Ashtains are normally between 8-9 ft (if I remember my own thread) That's about 3-4 ft taller than most humans. The H'rost/H'nagg are slightly enlarged horses and have about another 1-2 ft added to their back, neck, and legs. Their face is still relatively in proportion to their body, not more than 1ft longer. I have an image somewhere, I'll look it up and post it here | |

| I'm finding them a little bit hard to imagine right now. They seem to be very...spindly, kind of. | |

| This may help: Attachment: 'nagg.jpg [ 364.4 KiB | Viewed 699 times ] They're not very "spindly" and are still very horse looking (though this may change in the future) | |

| Wow, I love these! I couldn't imagine them at first but the picture really helped. I love the black one with the red antlers! | |

| Perhaps you should include an encyclopedia type appendix with your work? I think that might help your readers visualize some hard-to-explain things. | |

| I already have something like that, just without the pictures Once the series is done I could probably write it as a companion book | |

| Or you could make a companion web-site. Say! That's a pretty good idea! *Rushes off to make web site* | |

| *Cough* Um, right. Do you have any big fights between the two races? That would be cool. H'rost vs. H'nagg. | |

| When the Ashtains and Zarack are at war the H'rost and H'nagg are often ridden into battle against each other. Once the Zarack were defeated by the Ashtains, the H'nagg became wild and never "served" a Zarack again. They (along a few H'rost in later years) can still be found in forests. The H'rost still felt a connection to the Ashtains and the two races died out together. the H'nagg became very wild and haunt certain forests (mostly in the northern territories). | |

| well *cough* "all good things must come to an end" and thus, my world has an end as well. But that doesn't happen until (as Surith-Natagh’Wurrang once said): "When the last Durglenti falls from his perch Then shall the last Ashursha be born And when that Ashursha breaths his last So shall the Eegroth breathe its own" Durglenti means Dragle (which I'll introduce in due time) Ashursha mean Ashtain Eegroth means earth ^ these are all words in the language of the Yatay. BUT! Now I'm getting off subject and this would actually go better in the history forum........ | |
