Quick Description:
"The servants under Attensie, created to have power over things in the world under Attensie’s control."

There are only 14 E'shawnti, they are....

Elrosa - The Light Carrier (Lady of Light) is the one in charge of hanging the lights in the night and morning sky, she places the stars and the sun and moon.
Natorii - The Dark Lantern (Lord of Night) is the father night and darkness, he covers the land in sleep and rest.
Idena - The Dew Shaper (Lady of Water) brings forth the streams and rivers from the mountains, she shifts the waters, pours the rain and raises the floods.
Chomecho - The Earth Former (Lord of Land) moulds the mountains and digs the valleys, he sends forth the land and draws it back according to Attensie’s will.
Shanti - The Encourager (Lady of Growth) takes the new born plants, animals and children and helps them grow into who Seppana shaped them to be.
Aeolae - The Wind Gatherer (Lord of the Wind and Seasons) is in charge of sending forth the winds at the correct time, he is also the father of the Seasons
Katima - The Nurturer (Lady of Youth) takes over where Shanti takes off, she brings the youth into adulthood and helps them make their way in life.
Frindae - The Lore Seeker (Lord of Wisdom) explains the secrets of the world to those who seek them, showing all the Attensie has made.
Seppana - The Life Giver (Lady of Nature) is in charge of forming the seeds of plants and the children of animals and men into who they’re supposed to be
Titonah - The Earth Shaker (Lord of the Earth) is the one who causes all natural disasters through the elements.
Brindor - The Northern Winter (Lord of the North and Winter) is the northern wind and the father of winter, he brings the snow and frozen cold.
Naphana - The Southern Warmth (Lady of the South and Summer) is the southern wind and mother of summer, she brings sweet smelling air and life to every plant.
Elmelco - The Eastern Dryness (Lord of the East and Fall) is the eastern wind and father of fall, he brings cold dry air along with arid heat.
Arima - The Western Moisture (Lady of the West and Spring) is the western wind and mother of spring, she brings rain and warmth with the joy of life.

Piece of History
After Natorii rebelled against Attensie he stole Seppana and tried to force her to form the creatures he had in mind. She refused, reminding Natorii that only Attensie could make new creatures, she could only help shape the future of that person, plant, or animal. Natorii then kidnapped a couple of Ashtians and took them north to where he had hidden Seppana. He forced her to change them into what he had imagined. Brindor, the north wind, discovered Natorii and Seppana and told Attensie. Attensie sent him and Frindae to take her back. They were able to rescue her, but not before Natorii had made her mutilate the stolen Ashtains and many more creatures that Attensie had made. When they returned Attensie told Brindor and Frindae not to destroy the creatures Natorii had made, but to leave them for the Ashtains so that the power of Attensie would be revealed.

In a way you could call them "angels" but they're not quite. Each E'shawnti has 'followers' (in a sense) though all follow Attensie. I have to dig through some files to find my list of them. Until then this is what I've got :D What do you guys think of them/the idea?

Interesting thought line. I like the names. :D So, they are similar to Tolkien's Valar, in an unique way? Do they all have very different personalities?

I like it! So they aren't quite gods, but they are more than angels? Are they just a myth the people of your world believe or the reality?

I like the different dominions you delineated. Very interesting.

So, they are more like spirits then, right? Divine spirits? Are they visible much to the world in which they minister, or are they Jack Frostish? You can see their work, but not them and they are able to interact (Jack Frost nipping at your nose) with people, just not discourse with them?

They have varying personalities, at times mirroring the feels of humans/Ashtains, but in a more subdued way. Most of their feelings also mirror the feels of Attensie.
I'll try to use 2 words to describe their personalities.

El-Rosa - Sweet, Joyful
Natorii - (before betrayal) Calm, Fatherly
Natorii - (after betrayal) Calm (yet fierce) anger
Idena - Harsh, Adventurous
Chomecho - Quiet, Planning
Shanti - Loving, Hopeful
Aeolae - Happy, Obedient
Katima - Optimistic, Curious
Frindae - Solemn, Quiet
Seppana - Sweet, Quiet
Titonah - Harsh, Obedient
Brindor - Loyal, Obedient
Naphana - Curious, Loving
Elmelco - Quiet, Adventurous
Arima - Joyous, Adventurous

I don't know if these are descriptive enough, but its a basic representation :)

I plan on them being the 'reality' or the actual servants of Attensie. And yes, not quite gods, but more than angels ;)
Not quite spirits, but yes, they normally aren't visible by the people. I have a few times in history when they have appeared to people, but this was only because Attensie commanded it. (Kind of like the times in the Bible when angels appeared to man) the time when an E'shawnti appeared the people were able to respond.
I also have, I think, 3 times when Attensie himself appears/communicates with someone.
1st ("In person" -- but can't see him) - To Sanah when he reveals her ascension to the throne.
2nd (Undecided) - To Tenoss when he reveals how Tenoss can defeat Teynon.
3rd (In a dream -- only hears him) - To Ethro when he reveals what he wants Ethro to do.

Still looking for that list..... :?

That was great. Their personalities were mirrored in their names, which I liked. :)

Hmm, intriguing thought line... That will be interesting to see played out. Are they on another plane than the Ashtains? To put it another way, do they have physical bodies? How does that play out with their "normal" invisibility?

Hrm.... example!

El-Rosa appears to Keddiline. She appears as girl to give him a message from Attensie. In this situation, Attensie gave her a form to take and gave her the power to take it. Apart from Attensie an E'shawnti cannot simply choose to appear to a human, they need Attensie's "permission" and power first.

So normally the E'shawnti are in a different dimension/plane of the same world. Unlike the Ashtains, they can see everything (the "spiritual" and "non-spiritual").

So essentially they are in a different plane, but they can "travel" into ours, so to speak, correct? And yes, that example makes sense. :)

Not quite. They don't travel to "our" plane because they can still see what's happening on their plane. Attensie merely opens a "door/window" so people can see them.

That's what I was trying to convey, yes. (This is one of those things where I don't always explain/get the explanation, but I grasp the concept. :))

This is fascinating! I love how they all have a unique set of names (familiar and title), personality, and ability. It has an intriguing fairytale/folk lore feel, and it would be fun to explore the concept.

I think the history of Natorii's fall is especially interesting yet logical. I like how he gets his "demons" by misusing Seppana's powers, and how Attensie leaves the workers of evil behind to prove his power later. God used that "thorn in the flesh" technique several times in the Bible, so it's an accurate translation of His character.

Is Attensie omnipresent? Did Brindor have to tell him what had happened before he realized it, or did Attensie just wait until Brindor came?

I would be careful that you don't tread close to the borders of polytheism. This reminds me of Greek/Roman mythology, where they had a "god(dess) of" everything. I think since you recognize Attensie as the head and creator - as well as the dictator, limiting the E'swhanti's powers - that helps. I would still be careful in the actual narrative, however.

Attensie waited for Brindor. He knew what Natorii was doing, but let him finish because he knew it would bring changes to Ashta, both good and bad.

I know :? I'm working on changing a few things about how the Ashtains view them so I stay farther away from polytheism. At the same time I don't want them to be simple messengers. But Attensie does have all power over them. They may not realize it (such as Natorii) but they need his "permission" for everything they do. (i.e. he doesn't just allow things to happen, if he doesn't want something to happen, he won't let it.)

I'm liking it more and more. Just as others said, be wary of polytheism. However, you could possibly have a group of people/culture slip into polytheistic beliefs and make a false branch of this religion...

That's a neat idea, Elanhil! As well as historically accurate. The children of Israel worshiped the brass serpent (which God used as a symbol when He healed them of a plague) for years until Hezekiah finally broke it in pieces. Same type of scenario.

Quote:
2Ki 18:4 He removed the high places, and brake the images, and cut down the groves, and brake in pieces the brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it Nehushtan.

The Zarack/Izang are almost like that ;) They were/think they were "created" by Natorii are treat him as their god. Through most of the books I have them as the pure evil race that has never hinted at even thinking of redemption. But, in one of my final books, one of the Izang (a woman) turns away from her dark past. :D
During the Days of Darkness, I may have the Ashtain's fall into a type of polytheism. I haven't looking much into the Days of Darkness. All I know is that the "rebellion" against Attensie was started by the queen Calae.

I like the way you took several names by using different languages. So would Aeolae have power over Elmelco, Naphana, Brindor, and Arima? Was Natorii originally one of them?
