| Pardon the extremely long title, but what about it? Do you have any ideas that you'll write in to a story 'someday' but haven't yet? Are they good? Are they extremely cheesy? I know Holy Worlds has given me two ideas for creatures/characters to introduce: dvregar manticores So, I'm curious. What amazing concepts have you come up with but not written about yet? eruheran | |

| Oh, I have a whole list somewhere but I don't remember what's on it. I have a lot of story 'pieces' scenes I wrote but have no plot to go with. They range everything from a mermaid to a slave-turned-prince to albinos... | |

| I had one to write some secret agent short stories as a collection, which turned into my Shattering the Dark idea. I had one about two families that lived on Atlantis, but it was sort of an LotR rip off. I've rewritten LotR with twin sisters in it, and I've started this story about an orphanage and a few girls, which plays a small part in Shattering the Dark. I have a lot of started stories that I lost interest in, but elements from them still appear. I have an idea of how Shattering the Dark is going to turn out, but I don't know how to summarize it... | |

| I guess I've got lots of half-finished scenes lying about, now that I think on it. I've got several that are less than a page long and a few that made it to three or four. eruheran | |

| lol. ditto eruheran. I have scores of stories with only four or five chapters in them. Actually, only about...five of them have progressed well beyond that. (into Nano-size. ) One of them that I want to write SOMEDAY is about a spoiled captain of a guard, who is sent to spy on and eventually arrest a well known priest (religion has been banned), but instead, falls in love with the priests's daughter. (And she can't stand this guy. ) So about his transformation. that's the one that's really eating me right now. But I'm trying not to start it, because once you start on something shiny and new, the old stuff tends to fall by the way side. | |

Especially when the 'new' story concept turns out to be not that great and you abandon it only to find you've lost the roll that you had going on the old story. So what about characters/creatures? We've all got excerpts, it seems, that are lying around...what about specific elements of a story? Like one character and a bit of back-story that sticks with you. Or an awesome creature that doesn't fit in any of your worlds...or something like that? eruheran | |

| I recently fell in love with the idea of a fairy/sylph race, and I might, just might be able to incorporate them in my NaNo. One of my other favorite characters is a disturbed elven princess named Círwyn... you may have met her in the Character Introductions thread a while back. Anyways, her story goes that her dad, the king, always wanted a boy and so she tried to be like a son for her father. (Her mother died when she was young.) But then her dad gets married again and has a son through his new wife, and so Círwyn runs away. That's my favorite part. She ends up meeting a dragon named Sangua, and then... that's as far as I got. I've always liked the idea of having a slave girl to the princess who turns out to be the princess of a neighboring country. I always used to play that with my sisters and they would get frustrated 'cause my character was always super secretive. My last favorite idea is really a mental picture... it's four warriors and their four steeds (dragon, gryphon, sea-dragon, and unicorn) on a tower. There's a battle raging below and the sky is black except for a spark of silver light on the horizon. Then a silver-clad Rider swoops out of the horizon on his flaming silver phoenix. (Yes, I like silver.) I've got big plans for that story. It's going to be epic - if I ever write it. | |

| Oh, a lot of my stories are based on a character. I have a short story that was going to be rather Arabian Nights -ish and all I had to go on was a character (just a personality, no name.) But that wasn't really enough to work off of. Which is why I never wrote it. | |

| Evening, aren't those the characters you introduced in Character Introductions? I thought they were pretty awesome! Personally, I was thinking of writing a story using elves and fairy-types. Forgive the long summery. :P Three friends, a Felanai, a Wood Elf, and a Naiad (or something watery), are always doing everything together, but the Naiad finds herself fascinated by the Living Darkness (literally alive) and starts spending more time alone. Though she is forbidden by their elders of their community, she spends more and more time in darkness and night, and finally she goes to the place where the Darkness actually abides. Then she is transformed into a Creature of the Night (a slave of the Darkness), and regrets her disobedience. She must avoid light or it will kill her, but under cover of night, finds her friends and explains her predicament. The Wood Elf and Felanai need to find the cure (the True Light) before their friend permanently becomes one with the Darkness. It was going to be kind of allegorical, but I didn't think I had enough to work with, so I dropped that. Besides I can't start another story until I complete draft one of my current one (for the reasons that Willow pointed out above). | |

| Well, I've just added a few to my list: A magic elemental race (Flai'ads) Zeuglodons Kelpies I have no plans to include them in any of my writing thus far, but Enderion is a pretty huge place and there's two continents that I've never even set foot on or explored. So all of these concepts could appear someday in Endeiron, except the Flai'ads. They might have to wait because Enderion has no magic. (And I might have to modify some of these other creatures as well. ) eruheran | |

| I've got two. 1. All Hallow's Eve. Jack Hallow's is missing five years of his memory. He must save his wife, and himself, from a sect of Satanists who seem to know more about his life than he does himself. Jack also struggles to learn to love his wife, since their married life started two years back into his memory gap. 2. A brutal car wreck. Ellen is dead. David stays conscience long enough to tell his father "I don't have a reason", and he falls into a coma. But then he wakes up in a forest. He can only remember the car wreck...and her. As choices he makes have drastic effects on this new world he finds himself in, David must learn to let go...before he is tied to death forever. I'll probably save Hallow's Eve for a novel, but I plan on proposing the second idea (much improved) to a group called Idea Machine who are looking to create a movie. | |

| Awesome thread. I have a few. 1) A person accidentally gets caught in a gap of space-time. While there, he/she finds a scientist that also caught trap in that gap. Eventually, he/she escapes. (I do have a little bit more thought out about this, but nothing finalized ) (oh, and the space-time theory is closely related to the space-time theory in Kate and Leopold) 2) A gnome gets captured by a collector of fantasy creatures. He eventually escapes by tricking the collector into using his genie's third wish and freeing the genie from service. (this was inspired by artwork from Katilyn btw ) 3) A Narnia fan-fic detailing the circumstances that brought about the Origin of Dark Island. There might have been one or two more... but I can't think of them. | |

| I have the story about the dragon speakers/guardians/priests who live in Jin-han. That came from some random role-playing with a friend because I found a really great costume in her closet... And the one that comes from a dream -a king who kills all the homeless people, and his son who wants to stop him. That one will be fun- it's a much more advanced society than what I have in my story right now, because it's on the other side of the world, but it's also very different from the more Asian-type peoples of the northeast. Then the ongoing fanfiction that runs in my head whenever I'm walking somewhere, or on the bus, or doing dishes, etc. It's the journey of a self-modeled character through multiple different stories, and what she discovers about life. She turns out rather odd -a mixture of pride and absolute self-loathing. I think that's all (besides the NaNo novels for the next three years, not including 2011). | |

| Mostly I really want to write my tattoo story and my seven arts. I also have a neat one something like the Matrix that I really can't explain at all without writing its story. I tend to use just about every creature I like though. | |

| I'm always having interesting titles for stories pop up in my head, and then I end up trying desperately to attach them to existing story ideas. I have a few rolling around in there right now: Those Who Die Under Lights Memory, Memory We Cannot Stop, We Are Laughing (or maybe, No, We Are Laughing Too Hard) And I also have some different ideas for a dystopian comedy that I'm thinking about. I've been reading so many Deadly Serious dystopian novels recently, I wanted to write something funny in the same genre. "The zany adventures of two crazy guys under an evil totalitarian government!" It would also be hilarious to have a story about how some bumbling, unlucky teenager accidentally caused the formation of a dystopia, or how said teenager caused its downfall. I have some ideas about the dystopia itself, too: perhaps a world obsessed with safety, maybe one where people can be made immortal - they won't die of old age, so they become paranoid of dying other ways. Then there's a character I quite like who also keeps wandering into these stories. Her name is Ileria; she has a photographic memory and loves to read, and so she perfectly remembers thousands of books. But she's cynical and pessimistic; she resists all the efforts of various rebellions and resistance efforts to recruit her for her knowledge, since she figures that their new governments would be just as bad as the old ones. And she is a chain smoker, I think. I have some ideas in there for how the government purposefully got her addicted to something more dangerous than normal cigarettes...but I'm not sure where those ideas will go. | |
