I'm going to set my goal here: I need to finish profiling characters before December, so I can start my plot development of Retaliation. That should give me plenty of time to have fully developed characters, plus leave enough time for several months of plot development. :dieshappy:

:salute: :salute:

Finish "Operation Valiant" (working title) this November; and I hope to send a query letter into a publisher for "The Night Phoenix" by the end of this year.

I will! :D I'm also excited because your friend, Shaun, said she'd be willing to do illustrations of the main characters. ^_^

I went to a NaNo plot party last night and was given a handout (a fairly large one o.O) to help me develop my novel, so my goal is to utilize that quickly, so I can get it done before Nov. 1st.

I just got to the hotel (27 hours of driving, three days on the road) and can now report what work I did on my book. Over the last three days I have worked very hard and gotten some significant, but very exciting, rewrites done on the first book in my trilogy. I impressed my brother with two of them, so that is saying something.

I am now on page 104 out of 192 (65,000 words out of 120,000+). Which means I am now working on chapter 12 out of 21 chapters. :D

I feel like I've accomplished a lot, and I am very happy with some of the changes I am making to the book. My beta's will be very pleased when they see this book in print, I think. It's leaps and bounds above where it was back then.

I hope to have the book finished by the time I get home... we shall see. I have a 27 hour drive in 5 days, so I should be able to get a lot done, if I feel up to it.

*knows the feeling quite well* One thing I've found that helps immensely when trying to meet a tight deadline is to set intermediary goals, daily minimums, etc. Pace yourself and you can make it! *gives cupcakes to help Gracie focus*

The first book of Supervillain of the Day has been revealed to have some serious issues. The test readers didn't notice... they just kept pointing out that I needed foreshadowing, and when I finally talked it out with a friend I realized I need to write a completely new opening sequence, which involves rearranging the timeline and changing character dynamics that will have impact for the entire series.

At least now I have a project to work on before Nano. :P

Aw, it's a shame you have to change a lot of it, Katie! What do you mean by 'changing character dynamics'?

Y'all have been doing awesome! Congratulations! :D

*Cough* If I'm in this thread, I should give an update... :P

I'm supposedly writing the first book of my trilogy for NaNo, but am not feeling the least bit ready. :P

Fortunately, NaNo is essentially designed for people who aren't truly ready. You can do it, Mae, and you still have 10 days to prepare. :D

Aw, it's a shame you have to change a lot of it, Katie! What do you mean by 'changing character dynamics'?

Originally Floyd and Adams knew each other for years before the series starts. Now they meet in chapter one. This is going to affect their relationship for the whole series, as they get to know each other better, etc. I think that's the biggest thing, actually... the rest of it is plot stuff. Which is coming out well enough.
Quote:
Adams sighed. “Is Jeffry Floyd even your real name?”
He shook his head slowly.
“Are you even from this country?”
Floyd hesitated, then shook his head again.
Adams sighed and tossed the report on the desk.
“What are you going to do?” Floyd asked, his voice edged with anger that only barely concealed his panic. “Deport me? Where are you going to send me?”

Floyd was frozen where he stood. He struggled to breathe, but the air smelled of blood and death and guilt. He tried to formulate a name, to ask, but language was meaningless, and words would not come. He tried to scream but the sound got stuck in his heart, shattered into a million pieces, and scattered to the wind.

In a world without superheroes, who will stand against the forces of evil?

Okay, knowing a bit about the characters, I think that change is going to be fantastic. Also, quote is great, as usual.

Changing character dynamics is hard. In Never, Master Hayes and Ross were originally good friends for the whole time, but I decided it would be better if there was some tension between them. And in Radialloy, I added two entirely new characters to the book, so that obviously changed many things. o.O

Anyhow, I made an announcement yesterday!

An Announcement and a Reveal

So I guess my goal is to finish publishing this thing in one month. o.O

Be careful of your thoughts; guard your mind, for your thoughts become words. Be guarded when you speak, for your words turn into action. Watch what you do, for your actions will become habits. Be wary of your habits, for they become your character. Pray over your character; strive to mold it to the image of Christ, because your character will shape your destiny.

Ideas can germinate from the smallest seeds. Collect those seeds, and let them grow in the back of your mind. You may be surprised by what finally blooms.

Works in progress:

The Diegosian Mark, 115,600 words (Preparing for Publication)
The Diegosian Rider, 121,400 words (Finished)
The Diegosian Warrior, 15,000 (In Progress)

*bows * Thank you, thank you. :D

I would really like to push for finishing up today, thus leaving me the final day to do edits for E and write a blog post, but we shall see. I don't want to rush the process, since I will be sending out queries as soon as I get home, so this is the final draft. If I need more time, I'm okay with that, but if I'm very, very diligent and strict with my time, I should be able to finish today....
