Would you be more interested in an update whenever I pass a milestone in my fractal, or an update after a certain amount of time has passed (3 weeks, or something like that)?

That reminds me... I almost everything I need for a Murel subforum. Mostly, I've been waiting on Andrew to get back to me with a map that he drew a few months ago and has yet to scan onto his computer.

That was SO much better than a kick. ^_^

Ooh! I would like that. :)

Hmm... how about, if you haven't passed a major milestone in about 3 weeks, you give a general update? How would that work? :D

Don't you visit Andrew at his house sometimes? You should have just scanned it yourself.

That'll work. :D *looks back at date he posted his goal* I'll have an update by the 23rd then-- Oh wait, I already have one.

I was at the library today and ordered "Do What You Are" and "The Five Love Languages" to help me with my fractal. Hopefully, reading those will give me a better understanding of what goes in the 'What' section. :D

All right, that pushes my next deadline for updates forward to the 30th.

Yeah, except I visited his house for the last time last Saturday, and I wouldn't know how to scan it. :P

Ohh, you must be really going in-depth with that fractal! I admire you for taking the time out to read those books. :D I hope it helps you!

Aaandrew! Would you please scan Mark's map? I want to see it! :beg:

I'm trying. =D I've received favorable reactions from the people that have access to my gdoc, but their opinions might be slightly biased. ;)

Aubrey Hansen wrote:

There's not much to admire. I'm just trying to make sure I put the right information in the fractal.
I hope so too! :D

I'm going to his house again tomorrow (this should be the last time I go  ) and I plan to relentlessly poke him.

Poke him indeed! If he keeps this up I might have to do something nasty, like not let him test-read "Blue Fire" when I write it. ;)

See, when I do my fractals, I just went by essence. I haven't read any of those books and probably will never get around to it. So, I admire you for that. :D

He is sufficiently cowed and uploading the map at this moment. :dieshappy:

Apparently something went wrong when uploading and the art never made it into the Mods approvement area. I think he's going to try again sometime soon...

I have been BAD about my world building lately. But I hope to get back at it and maybe have one in my subforum by this weekend.

My goals for my world building got left behind last weekend. I started a post so hopefully I can finish it this weekend.

I started making a language for Amerouk. It's turning out to be :dieshappy: and  and *headesk* all at the same time. :P I want everything to be systematic, but that means reworking things and possibly redoing what little I have so far. I don't really want to do that. :P That's what is pretty much taking over my world building.

How is everyone else's non-novel goals going? :D

*is extremely happy for Gracie*

I've started working on a language for my fantasy world, so I can sympathize, Mae. :D World-building is often that way... As you get in deeper and learn new things, you have to update your old material. It's tedious, but it is worth it. The time spent will pay off.

Thank you Jonathan, Azlyn, Leah, and Elanor! :) I'd hoped to submit another story this month, but I didn't get going on it, and it's a bit late now... :P But hopefully next month. :) Perhaps I'll try for every-other month...

I've been in the process of re-vamping my subforum lately. I've got some re-writing to do, and I'm working some new posts. I've discovered culture is my favourite thing to develop. And I just got a new post out! Read about greetings! :D

Actually, I sent it to Fear and Trembling, but they thought it would be a better fit for ResAliens. :)

I said when I returned to HW I would want writing updates. And I meant it. SO here I am. Some of you are even getting poked on more then one forum! Lucky you! ;)

*Pulls up a chair and sets out some brownies*

Awesome, Grace! When will it be published? :D

It is fun, isn't it, Philie? Have you by any chance began working on said culture yet and have some new posts for little Mae? :beg:

Mark, how has your world-building been going?

Kat! You posted a while ago about getting a subforum. So? Is that going anywhere? How is that coming?

Vanya, what about you? How is your world building?

Andrew, you posted earlier in this thread. In fact, you started it. So you are not slipping away from being poked either! How are your non-novel goals going? :D

There, did I get everyone? :D

*loves Mae's catch-up-and-poke-everyone posts* :D

I have a ton of culture posted in my subforum (Erde), actually! I am almost finished developing the Volk, and I need to go back and update everything to make sure it's consistent. Then I shall be starting on another culture! o.O

Think how much fun you've had already. ;)

It should be quite soon, Azlyn, I'll post a link when it's up... and I'll be sprinting to check the "published author" box on my profile as soon as it is. ;)

I'm going to try to send in another short story this month. :salute:

Because you say things like that, and because you read and comment on every single world-building post, and seem to enjoy most of them. :D And because you just get to proofread and enjoy - you don't have to do any of the development work. ;)

*notices that he was mentioned*

Um... not at all. Actually, all Murel work is postponed indefinitely. I will return to it eventually, but I want to give more of my attention with Beorn. (Incidentally, I should write up worldbuilding posts for Beorn's world sometime. :D)

Aww, that's too bad Murel is postponed. Though working on Beorn's fractal is good too. I didn't know they were not part of the same world before.

Originally, Beorn was going to be a seperate story. Later, it become potentially a part of Murel, but then the story seperated from Murel cobha and became a part of a seperate world (one with really, really cool science :dieshappy:).

Sometimes it's necessary to drop one to work on the other. That's what I found with Tevo. :)

I will.

But first, I want to make sure I have a general outline of where my characters will be going and what they will be doing. And then I'll have a better grasp of the worldbuilding involved (but what I've got so far is really, really cool :dieshappy: (to me anyways ;))).

Things started clicking together today for world building, like the magic and history of Amerouk. Things like 'Why is that character evil anyway'? And 'Why do people turn to the dark magic anyway?' or 'Why did I make the dark magic fueled with dark emotions and good magic with concentration anyway?". Well, all those questions have an answer now! :D Some very large factors are snapping together. Don't you love it when that happens? :dieshappy:

Thus, I am very excited. So I am setting a goal for myself. To rewrite the history, magic, and curse posts in my sub-forum by the end of March. They were in shambles and in need of a rewrite before, but now the rewrite will be much better. I can't wait to start. :D
