OK... so I found out I'm very slow at making names for things, which is bad when your character travels to the cities you haven't named :?

So, I was wondering if anyone on HW that is good with making city/country names could help me? I have these places so far:

Nadinya--Large continent. There are two separate countries on this continent--which I also have not named yet. Cities here have a more medieval sound to them, the cities I have for this continent are the main cities:
Greymoor--the capital city.
Arenford--the hometown of my MC.

Imendriah--The Vasai Island. This is the island where the Vasai (Elf-like race) and magical creatures such as dragons and unicorns live. The names here are all half-elf, half-creative names. The only one I have for these cities are:
Tisendrah
Weava

On this planet, there is also an island cluster called Anthesa, and one small island named Morlevar-- which is an evil place.

Let me know if you can help me with any more ideas... or if you're confused by my wording :D

So... are there rules? Or just names that are similar to what you've already got?

Do you have a list of cities or places that need names with descriptions? That might help.

Well, I just need city names... Awhile ago, another HWer asked for help too, and he got quite alot of names :D

I want unique, Medieval and elvish names... if that helps :)

I know some people enjoy creating names, so I thought I would ask :D

I had an elvish city named Voronwё once, I think it means faithful in elvish, but I'm not sure. I took elves out of the story so you're welcome to the name. Menathradon means 'at the crossway'. Here is a useful elvish name translator.

Thank you so much Merashath! You don't know how amazing the meaning of Menathradon is for my story! :D

By the way, I wouldn't recommend using Menathradon if the city isn't elvish. If the country is based off a real one, you could use the word 'crossroads' in that language. Just a thought.

It's not entirely Elvish... but it's a race called the Vasai: and Elf-like race. I dont see anything wrong with the origins of the word... you are actually kind of confusing me :D

I was just thinking if it was a human city it wouldn't make sense to have an elvish name. :) How about 'Dorei' for another city? It's a modification of 'Of the King' in Portuguese.

Voronwe might not be the best name to use, it's the name of a character in "The Tale of the Children of Hurin."

A city might be Asthen, Velase, Cathmenin, or Gwerthelin.

Your welcome. Names are things that I'm good at. I also enjoy it. My best was probably Cair Anor.

Ah, I knew Voronwë sounded familiar...I had read it before! I can't remember exactly what character it is (long book :D) but it did sound familiar. And just a bit off topic...that's a great book. :)

Me? I don't know. He was a shipwrecked elf.

Here's some more: Altherion (check, may already exist), Maplehaven, Oakglade, Sinistin, Verelagy
