Well. I've been here for....over a month now, I think. Longer maybe. And I must say, I really still don't get Essence Mapping, though Eruheran's SEM /really/ helped, and I think I might give it a shot.

(I do not think with the mind of a Computer Programmer. At all. >.O)

But I have a question. How essential do you think Essence Mapping is? Do you think not mapping it would hurt your story in any way, or will it help smooth things out in a way that is more convenient?

Interested in hearing your thoughts. :)

I'm pretty sure I posted this in the right section. If not, so sorry.

This is the right forum, RedWing. =)

And as to your question--no, I wouldn't say it's essential. Mainly, it's something that can help you get your thoughts down about characters...and share it with others who understand Essence Mapping. So--it can be useful to learn--but I wouldn't say it's vital. It definitely wouldn't hurt your story if you didn't do it.

Knowing how to essence map is like knowing how to paint. They help your story if you know how, but they also don't hurt it if you don't know how.

Just essence mapping, in my view, is easier to learn for writers. :)

Thank you. :D I will definitely try to learn how to Essence Map, if I find the time to learn. Which I'm not sure when that will be.

In the meantime, I shall Fractal. :P (Excluding the Mapping part...but only for now.)

Redwing,
Fractaling is very helpful and for the most part not confusing (just looong :D). Essence doesn't have to be confusing. Read this. :D
