After doing Lady Eruwaedhiel's "One Word" character development challenge (see this thread: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=1489), I came up with an expansion of her exercise.

Her exercise was...
Quote:
Describe a character in one word. This is difficult but really gives me a clearer picture of who they are. You can explain who they are and what role they play in your story at the end if you like.

Taking that a step farther...

Describe your characters in one word from the POV of another character.

How, in the most concise format, do your characters perceive each other? It may be vastly different than how you, as the author, perceive the characters, as well as how they perceive themselves.

I plan to do this later today, and I'll post what I come up with. :D

See:

From the POV of Nathan:
Peter – presumptuous
Edwin – faithful
Edric – unreachable
Saul – coy
Mark – traitorous
Katrina – shy
Clara – friendly
George – poor
Jason – sharp

From the POV of Peter:
Nathan – withholding
Edric – dictatorial
Mark – unreasonable
Katrina – precious
Jason – loyal
Saul – aggravating
Stephen – passive
Laviena – grating

I might be mildly addicted to this one-word stuff now. What else can I describe in one word? :P

LOL! Hilly. *wags finger* You should pay attention to Geometry! (HA! It's easier to fall asleep.:P)

My characters from Nessa's current POV

Azriel--Dream
Father--Gone
Nolan--Good
Ixi--Terrifying
Wayra--Loved
Aoife--Needed
Karen--companion
Aisling--fussy

Nessa- She's given up the veil, the vows she'd sworn, abandoned every effort to conform. Without a word to anyone she's gone her way alone, a dove escaping back into the storm.

Nolan- And though I don't understand why this happened, I know that I will when I look back someday, and see how you've brought beauty from ashes, and made me as gold purified through the flames.

Azriel- And who do you think you are, running round leaving scars, collecting your jar of hearts, and tearing love apart? You're gonna catch a cold from the ice inside your soul, so don't come back to me. Don't come back at all...

Great work, y'all! It's fun to read the descriptions and imagine the characters; you can get a good idea of their relationship to each other from the single words, even without knowing the story.

I wholly agree with you, Philly! I thought Vanya's word choices were comical. X3

Comical? Why comical? *wonders*

Comical because each of the other characters mentions something about the other being violent, or poor Illia being useless. :3 (I tend to overuse the word "funny" so I also use comical.)
