Yeah, I'm back, after a good bit and working on Skalahseh again. Here I have for you a little something on the bad and naughty end of Skalahseh.

In Skalahseh there are four major religions. Theirs the Christian Proxy Tahlah, the Old Tahlah (Judaism, Islam), The Eastern Faith I haven't named yet (Chinese ancestor worship), and the Prothan Pantheon.

Before you start getting tense, all of these have a reason for being there. Tahlah's place is obvious, Old Tahlah represents a stricter and more violent path. The eastern religions are mainly just there to appear exotic, and the Prothan pantheon represents the worship of Evil and how people seek out evil as opposed to good. Each of the Deities in the Prothan Pantheon represents one of the Seven Deadly sins (and is in fact a demon masquerading as a deity). I need to see if this fact is subtle enough, but still recognizable. So, here are the Prothan deities:

Prothan Pantheon
Levis- The Prothan god of light and sky, the king of the gods and patron of rulers. In Prothan myth Levis overthrew the “unjust” rule of Sator, the creator deity; he then essentially stole his wife Sis from his twin brother Bellum and cast his brother's offspring out of heaven.

Sis- The Prothan god of love and womanhood, the queen of the gods; patron of woman. Sis is the only female deity in the Prothan pantheon, and the wife of Levis, though she is known for her tendency to cheat on her husband with his brother Bellum. She bore Ereptor and Medidus to Levis, and the twins Labo and Cavum to her lover Bellum.

Bellum- The Prothan god of war and vengeance; the patron of soldiers and those who seek vengeance. In Prothan Myth, Bellum is Levis’s twin brother who aided his brother in overthrowing their father Sator. He was a loyal brother until Levis tricked their sister--and his lover--Sis, into marrying him instead of Bellum. Bellum took his revenge by impregnating Sis and declaring that he will sow war and decent throughout all the world so long as Levis reigned as king of heaven.

Labo- The Prothan god of the sea, Labo is the Patron of the sea and all its inhabitants. In Prothan myth Labo is one of the twin sons of Bellum and Sis and the first to be born, When Levis discovered the truth of Labo's birth (Sometime later), he stripped him of his title as heir to heaven and tossed him down into the sea. Labo now spends his time siring sea monsters and calling storms as he gazes up enviously at his half-brothers Ereptor and Madidus as they enjoy the luxuries of heaven.

Cavum- The Prothan god of the Earth and Death; Patron of the dead and grieving. In Prothan myth Cavum is the younger twin of Labo, and like Labo was cast out of heaven, where his brother was grew bitter Cavum fell into a deep depression and wondered deep into the earth to the underworld, where he gathers the spirits of the dead to keep him company.

Ereptor- The Prothan god of wind, wealth and privilege; Patron of sailors, merchants and thieves alike. In Prothan myth Ereptor was the oldest legitimate son of Levis and Sis and the heir to heaven; as the messenger of the gods he was known to read notes sent between the other deities. This is how he discovered the truth of his elder brother’s lineage. Telling his father and usurping his brother Labo's place in heaven.

Madidas- The Prothan god of drink and song, the patron of festivals and art and all those who create and enjoy such things. In Prothan Myth he is the youngest deity, and is known for doing very little aside from the invention of some instruments and a few well known Prothan dishes.

Their names are all Latin for something, as well; I can provide translations if you like.

Yep, they are subtle enough, as far as they are described here. I like how they are tied together in a story.
Were the stories of the gods relationships invented by the demons that are masquerading as them, or did the demons masquerade as characters from legends based off of the humans past (like the Greek and Roman pantheon)?
Or is it based off what the demons actually did?

If the demons took on characters from legends, then the Eastern Faith could be the same legends but closer to the actual history the legends were based on, and they would worship the same people as historical humans rather than as legendary gods, similar to the Catholics worshiping saints. Catholicism is pretty much an Eastern religion with a change of clothes, and all you would need was a change of clothes back again.

I also thought I would mention that Islam considers itself to be to the New Testament what the New Testament is to the Old Testament.

No its not silly at all actually. The fear of offending someone or worse yet leading a soul astray are ever present and rational. Its always best to tread lightly and take great care with such volatile matters. I'll admit too I was greatly worried about trying something like this. However the fear subsided as I realized the potential of the concept.

Part of it is vary loosely based on the actions of the actual demons associated with the "gods". For instance Levis alter ego Hubris did in fact attempt to overthrow Sator (Yah/God). Though in truth he failed and was himself cast out of the heavens. He also really did betray Wrath (Bellum), though it had nothing to do with Sis (Lust). However the majority of the stories come from a combination of the web of lies they have woven as well as the imaginative retelling of these stories by their priesthood.

That is basically what I'm doing. Except obviously they don't revere the Prothan "gods". Most of their pantheon is comprised of saints with only one real God the Emperor in Scarlet (Like the jade Emperor/ why scarlet? Red symbolizes happiness in china).

Well yes but its not a perfect parallel either. More like Israeli Jews.

A good example of detailed descriptions of false religions without condoning them would be The Travels of Marco Polo.

If you want to copy more of the Chinese culture, one really interesting thing is that they associate white with death and mourning, and consider black a common or noble color.

Yeah, i was already aware of that but diden't think about trying to apply this to the Wu Empire. Maybe I will though. Perhaps the Emperors (The human ones) Palace in the capital might be called the Black Palace. And Maybe the Symbol of Rule will be called the Pale or maybe Pearl Blade... A blade of sheet white used by the empower as a sign of intimidation and might.
