It sounds like you're off to a great start to working on your world's magic. I especially like the Estolar (cool name, by the way). What kinds of things do they do with their magic, exactly?
First, I don't think the Estolar do anything unless they feel led. I haven't really developed them yet, but for example, if a minister has to make it to a certain town but has a death threat, one of them may feel burdened to escort him.

What can be done with magic in your world? Can it be used for things like healing? Creating certain things? Levitating objects? Telepathy?
Mostly the magic is all like telepathy and moving objects and stuff, (woops, kinda like the force) but there are those beautiful violent bursts of light that you see in other books. It can be used to heal, but it's a magic that mostly just modifies what happens to creation, so it wouldn't be able to create things.

etc. And as a girl I feel obligated to ask: are there female wizards?

Wizards come from wizlings, and anybody could be a wizling. So it depends if the Wizling decides to pursue his gift to it's full potential and become a Wizard. I think that there are about the same amount of female and male wizards.

And in answer to your sidetrack, no, I don't think Elanhil sounds like a woman's name. Elan, which means "tree" in Hebrew, is consider both a boy's or girl's name, though I have heard it most often used as a girl's name. But I think Elanhil sounds fine as a boy's name. To me, most names only sound girlish if they end with an a.

Well I'm glad I didn't make it Elanhila then.
