Do the birds die when they turn into oxygen bubbles or water, and are they able to turn back into birds?

That is a very good question that I only just figured out myself! I decided that their wings would continuously turn into bubbles, like a nonstop flow from the wings. So the bird wouldn't actually die. That goes that same for the birds that turn into fogs and smoke.
