I've been trying to boil the plot of Bonesword (my one and only serious novel project, set in the world of Eartea, my RB forum) down to one short sentence that, very simply, encompasses the primary theme and plot of the story. This is what I've come up with (and trust me, it takes a while to whittle it down to something this short):

One man, two destinies.

Four words (and a comma) tell the basic story, right there. But I have some questions.

What sort of plot or themes initially come to mind when you read this sentence?

Do you have any ideas for shortening this?

Since none of you (as far as I know) have heard the plot of Bonesword, I should get fairly fresh answers.

Redemption is to be purchased, to have a price paid. So I was redeemed from my master sin, and from justice, which demanded my death. For He paid the price of sin by becoming sin, and met the demands of justice by dying for us.

For all men have a master. But a man cannot have two masters. For he will love one and hate the other. You cannot serve God and sin. So I die to the old, as He died, and I am resurrected to the new, as He was resurrected.

Note: Ebed is Hebrew for bondsman, Eleutheros is Greek for unrestrained (not a slave).

The idea that there are two paths that man can go down, each with drastically different repercussions and end effects, is what springs to mind for me.

That is exactly the idea I was going for. I'm glad that's what you were getting from it.

I thought the same thing as Airianna.

Choosing wisely is a theme that would fit.

Well, perhaps there will be a synopsis thread at some point. Soon, hopefully.

As much as I love my job, it's irritating that I have more inspiration to write and less time to do it. But I suppose that's a good trade off, all things considered.
