Verians and Meriaks are a winged race that have the appearance of Humans. Meriaks are the darker (more evil) race, while the Verians are good.

Verians live in either the colder regions of the Piensor mountains or near the sea coast. The race is usually split between the two places, with their leader going to and from each.

They are normally very friendly. Many times they can be seen playing in the waves on the backs of whales. They are easy to befriend, as well, due to their cheerful personality. They normally only get angry when the Meriak cause offense to them or to other races.

Verians look very much like Humans, but much slimmer. Their skin is sheet-white, and they have blond hair and white, feathery wings. Their clothing consists of white furs.

Meriaks, on the other hand, live in the darkest parts of forest in Piensor. They are hostile and aggressive, and never show themselves in the light. They use instead a special mushroom, which is poisonous, for light, because it gives off a dull purple-red glow.

They hunt only once every two months, and bring back enough for the entire clan. They bring their prey back alive, and put them in a sort of prison, dark and damp.

Meriaks also carry the appearance of a human, and also the slim build of the Verians. They have pitch-black skin and Elf-like ears, but have no relation to Elves whatsoever. They have black feathery wings and dark brown hair.. The clothing for Meriaks are dark brown to black furs.

Both races are not as prominent as Elves, Dwarves, and Humans. They are dominantly female, but their leaders are always male.

Wow...interesting, to be sure. Are they winged like the discussion going on about a handless culture or do they have hands? Very interesting...adding exotic races is one thing I need to do in my book. :)

Yes, they have hands. Take away the wings and they'd look like Humans, aside from their skin color.

That's pretty cool...they are very friendly...do the good ones tend to associate at all with other nations/creatures/races in your world? You said that the evil ones don't but what about the good ones?

Sometimes. Their leader does not usually, only when problems arise that need to be settled. But otherwise the Verians have no problem making themselves seen and heard.

Do they walk around a lot or would they prefer flying? How would they be at fighting?

Hmm... they could probably go both. The Verians might do more flying, since they have more space. The Meriaks would probably walk more, living in close quarters with trees (but in their tribe's home, the trees are super crazy tall, which give them plenty of space to fly).

I don't think they would do well in fighting. If put side by side against the same enemy, Meriaks would stand more of a chance. They don't really have weapons (that I've made for them), so they probably wouldn't stand very long against swords or guns. Arrows they'd be able to avoid most of the time, though. Meriaks are feared by everyone in general, so that gives them a slight advantage.

Good explanation here Lady Arias, I thought that was a brilliant answer to Griffin's question. It was very in keeping with the characteristics of your race and took into account their very different life styles. So the way I view the Verians is humans with Arctic Snowy owl wings and the Meriaks are humans with Raven like wings. Am I wrong?

Thank you, Airianna. :)

Mm, yeah, that's pretty much it. Their wings, if stood up vertically (somehow) are just a bit shorter than their height, which is an average human height, so their wings were pretty big. But yeah, Snowy owls for Verians and Ravens for Meriaks. That's a good comparison, I never thought of it that way. :)

Wait, one wing is as tall as a man or the wingspan?

Griffin - Yeah, just one wing is as tall as a man. Sorry if the last post was confusing.

Airianna - Ditto. :)
