The short story I posted on my google docs is now the first book in a series with my other book idea (fka Ixia and then Taking Solus) as the third or later installment.
My protagonist is Commander Uman Re, an overzealous late twenties space soldier who must cope with failure in the mission that was to make his career in order to preserve God's Word and people by saving a small group of survivors on an unknown planet.
My deuteragonist is Ehli Orson, a former prisoner that Uman rescued who is 4 months pregnant and soon to be the target of a clever plan to create advanced DNA in order to populate a new breed of warrior mechs. She won't become a warrior mech, just the mother of a race to come which will make up Koslo's army.
My antagonist is Koslo Evelan, a man who worked his whole life to be accepted as an Osuna elite citizen, but who had his ideas stolen and then was sent to the prison where Ehli was also sent. Koslo leaked info to the Arakun that one of the prisoners had intel on the location of the war mech manufacturing center. This brought a rescue mission, which Koslo and his men snuck onto and then disabled the "jump drive" just outside the orbit of a planet he discovered in a system with a unique mineral capable of increasing war mech strength. This planet, Kitane, has oxygen and is liveable. He plans to establish a secret base while Uman gathers the survivors of the crash and then one by one implant women with his DNA robots, or whatever advances their DNA. When he is done collecting "samples" he plans to kill the rest and start a new civilization with the children of his new specimens. Koslo's main goal is to make this galaxy the base of operations for what will eventually punish the Osuna who wronged him and force everyone else to obey his will. (This will take a while, so anti-aging will have to be created, you know, no big deal

)
Uman must embrace his task quickly in order to keep Koslo from wiping out what may be the last Aragraph and faithful from the physical realm of the universe. The Osuna are winning the war. It is likely, since Uman's "hail mary" shot to get the war mech location failed, that the Osuna have taken over the last remaining Arakun planets and quickly removed all traces of their faith.
