Okay, so I am developing this new webcomic idea (yay!) and I am really not going to have time within the story to stop and develop the cultures. I'm not even sure if I should mess with having multiple races. Is it just too much?

Quote:
When a forest fire ravages the human & elf land of _____, both races are blamed in the theft of a simple waterflask, intriguing mercenaries with its healing properties – and the many rewards offered for its retreival. An unscrupulous chevalier and his comrades, also on the quest, suspect why the flask was stolen, putting themselves in danger from the true robbers. Open war breaks out, and the robbers pursue the questers, threatening to demoralize them. Just as they find the flask (hidden and abandoned), the chevalier is double-crossed by his fellows.

I'm not completely happy with this synopsis, but it's what I have. ;) I also removed the last sentence which tells how it all ends. ;)

Anyhow, I need names for these characters:

Quote:
Name - Chevalier
Throughline – On a bounty hunt for a stolen waterflask, Chevalier's reckless, capricious nature hinders as much as it aids; but he is forced to focus as competition and civil war close in.
Motivation – he wants the money from the bounty to be able to fund a new adventure; he wants to feed his restless nature – there is something in his heart that is never still, especially when the wind blows.
Goal – to recover the waterflask
Conflict – There are others who are searching for the bottle; the original theives also want to keep it hidden. The war is also preventing him from searching as well.
Arc – from cocky to humble (big picture), from reckless to purposed, from foolish to brave.

Name – elf, traitor, comrade
Throughline – Torn between brother-love and loyalty to his friend Chevalier, Elf joins with the traitorous third companion to turn on Chevalier at the finding of the flask - however, his last companion kills him just as he was to give the healing water to his ailing brother.
Motivation – love for his brother
Goal – to bring the bottle of healing to his younger brother before he dies
Conflict – MC doesn't want to share it – wants to turn it in for the bounty. Also, can't find it.
Arc – from unconfident and unsure of his mission to confident

Name – Z-character
Throughline – Stumbling into the path of mercenaries on the search for the flask he was entrusted to care for, a wandering prophet follows the One's leading through the strife, saving the chevalier from treachery.
Motivation – Love for the One who keeps him from despair; remorse for his past deeds;
Goal – watch over the waterflask that has been entrusted to him
Conflict – Everyone else wants it. ;)
Arc – none in short-term because he's such a small character now; lay the foundations for;
from non-leadership figure to leadership figure, from generally unsocial to comfortable around people, from fearful of certain things to trusting.

Name – love interest
Throughline – As her little brother is slowly dying from an unknown illness, the girl ever watches over him, hoping for their older brother to bring the flask of healing to the child.
Motivation – love for the child, love for her other brother
Goal – care for her sickly little brother
Conflict – the sickness continues to grow worse
Arc – none short-term; long-term: from disliking MC to loving him,

Later once this thread is done, I'll probably edit this out (if I remember!) to prevent any spoilers from escaping. Really hoping to make this into a good webcomic, manga-style. :D

So first of all I need some opinions on races - should I be even bothering with the dual races, elves and humans, or should I just have some other distinction? (I chose elves because they're very visually different from humans, especially in close-up facial shots)

Secondly, I am searching for ideas on names. I'm writing a one-page synopsis, and writing without proper names is driving me insane! :P

Thanks!

And I just realized that I missed one of my characters. :P I never typed over his character bio stuff! (those are my versions of step 3 of the Snowflakes, in case anyone is curious)
