My inspiration for a more realistic, detailed feel came from (of course) Tolkien's maps of Middle-Earth (which, btw, I don't think he drew himself, but anyway....). Unfortunately I didn't achieve the same stylized feel, but it was a lot of fun making it somewhat of a piece of art...

And attached is the second piece I promised. It doesn't fall in line with the other sheets, making the whole a somewhat odd shape, but hopefully you'll be able to see where it fits in with the rest. Just remember that it connects on the western half of the northern edge.

They're both gorgeous. You've done a fine job.

Nice! I like your little illustrations in the sea, and the way that you drew the coastline. And the rivers look really nice! I'll have to keep those tricks you used for them in mind when I work on my next map...

One note: I'm not sure if that's your signature in the bottom right corner of the first map, but if it is, just keep in mind that it's visible and might be readable, if you are concerned about sharing your name...I sign all my maps with my real name, and so when I put them on the Internet I edit the signature out.

Anyways, thanks for sharing this! I'm hoping to read and maybe comment on the rest of the information you've put up about Airamiel, but it will probably take some time.
