Yeah, they were a lot of ex-military pilots from WW1 who wanted to keep flying even after the war ended, so they started doing stunt shows and airplane rides to try to make a living. It was a cool era. If you ever saw the movie
Second-Hand Lions, the uncles are trying to be barnstormers at the end. So lots of opportunity for interwar stories with plenty of directions you can take stories. Some of them did some smuggling on the side as well, especially in the 20s, so there's room for integrating Mafia and bootleggers.
