Annwyl smiles, standing beside a large dragon. Its body, tail, and legs are a shimmering golden-orange color, first appearing to look like the colors of blazing flames before shifting to the shades of a duller-colored autumn leaf. The shifting shades of orange, red, yellow, gold, and brown are so subtle, it doesn't jar one's senses or cause their eyes to ache. His eyes are a jade green, though as he blinks calmly, they sometimes seem to be a dark brown instead.
"Meet my dear Suiadan," Annwyl says, the fond smile on her face widening.. (Suiadan is pronounced soo-ee-a-dahn) "I sometimes call him Dany (Dahn-ee). He's not all that old; just 300 years or so."
Here, a deep sort of raspy chuckling sound comes from Suiadan's throat. "Not old in dragon years perhaps. But as for human years, I am quite old."
Annwyl frowns, brushing a stray lock of hair from her eyes. "Shush, Dany. You're not that old." She continues, raising an eyebrow and giving Suiadan a look that seems to tell him not to interrupt anymore. "Suiadan used to live in the Geheim Desert before we met. I had been carried off by a wandering dragon, and taken from the forest where I lived to the desert. Suiadan rescued me."
Suiadan lowers his head in sudden awkward embarrassment, but Annwyl rambles on. "We became friends, and here we are now. Suiadan is very brave and protective of those he loves, and when someone or something he cares about is threatened, he becomes rather fierce and even slightly frightening. But most of the time, he's very gentle, kindhearted, selfless, and understanding. He's mostly very calm, but sometimes he can become easily riled or excited. He also likes to engage in debates." Here, Annwyl stops to take a breath, grinning.
Suiadan nudges her with his nose. "That's quite enough, little one. Stop now before my scales go red."
"Oh!" Annwyl's eyes light up. "One more thing; Suiadan is part of a special species of dragon. Their scales have one base color that shimmers from shade to shade, but the color changes depending on their mood. Their eyes change color to suit their emotions as well." With a sly grin, she adds, "That's what he meant by saying his scales would turn red. When he's embarrassed, they go this very beautiful, rosy pink-red colo--"
Annwyl is cut off by Suiadan, who promptly uses his paw and scoops her up, depositing her on his back. "Enough, you incorrigible little girl."
Annwyl giggles, but goes quiet regardless, grinning silently.
(Disclaimer: I am so, so sorry for how long this turned out. *facepalm* I can try and shorten it if ya'll want me to. I got carried away...)
