I was thinking about the relationship between the mods and editors while browsing the Mod Hall, and I wondered...what if there was an easier way to show editors things that needed to be edited?

Right now, the system we have is to PM the editor who works in the forum if there's a post that needs a substantial amount of editing. There's also a topic about Editors looking for work. But what if it was easier than posting or PMing?

I'm thinking about a flagging system. Depending on how feasible this whole venture is, it could be pretty complicated or pretty simple. And I have no idea how easy this would be, or even if it's possible at all, since I'm not a tech person.

What I imagined was a new tab in the Control Panel. (I think the Editors can see that, right? If not, you might need to create one somewhere, or something.) It would show posts that had been flagged by Moderators, posts that needed to be edited. Then the Editors could just look in that page and pick a post to edit.

If you wanted to make a database for who was working in which forum, you could have each Editor able to see posts flagged in their forums on the top, and then other posts around the forums below that. That's the more complicated part.

Editors and Mods should both be able to flag posts. You could also let RUs flag them too. That way, if the Editor knows it needs edited but needs to "bookmark" it or wants another Editor to do it, he/she can flag it. To flag a post, you would go to the bottom and the button would be near the one for "delete". It could say "flag for editing" or something like that.

When an Editor has edited a post to their satisfaction, they can go back to the post and unflag it, thus withdrawing it from the panel of flagged posts. A Mod can do this too.

You could also do something like the "reason for editing" to go along with the flag, but you could put in the reason it needed to be edited, like "spelling errors" or "incorrect information" or "needs capitalization".

Just some thoughts. :)
