Do you think we should have a thread where people can sign into the forum, and off of it? It might make things a little more keep-track-able. (Sorry I like to make up words.:D)

I am not exactly certain what you are suggesting (perhaps due to your propensity for making up words... :) ). Could you elaborate?

Well, it would be kind of like what Story Girl just posted actually.:) Where you could ask for prayer, or give a heads up that you won't be around for a while.

Ah! That makes sense. Hmm.... sounds good! I am going to be changing some of the layout on the forums here, so any other suggestions are welcome!

I actually have a question as well.:D How can I add something to my sig? This is a very...different forum from those I have been to before.

This is phpbb3, not phpbb2, so that is why it is different. Phpbb3 is a lot better in a lot of ways. :)

Go to the UCP, then the Profile, then Edit Signature. If you get lost just ask. :)

I think it would be a good idea to have a prayer area of some sort with some sort of a medievalish type name (like you already have).

Hmm... I have misgivings about that, but I will think about it.

Yeah, I know what you mean. If it's anything like The Rebelution Forum, it can become very full and a little overwhelming. Just a thought.

That is kind of what I was thinking. They are really hard to moderate. And I have a very small team of one (well, two if you count the Editor, DD). :)

Yeah...good point. And since we're all Rebelutionaries for the most part...just go to the Rebelution forum!

I am the editor, in case you didn't know who DD was. :D

I think that it is a good idea to just post prayer requests on the Rebelution or just PM people asking for prayer. I think PMing would actually be more effective then posting on the Rebelution, though, because if you ask specific people to pray, they are more likely to actually pray. Just my thoughts on the subject.

PMing would be an alternate way. Good idea, Editor! :D

Agreed. Besides, asking for prayer via PM is a lot less like gossip. Which is good, since a lot of times that is what prayer rooms become: gossip rooms. :(

Is this thread for room suggestions? Good. I have one. How about a forum for art work? Like character sketches and book covers and heraldry and maps. I know maps can go in Geography and character sketches in character development, but it might be neat to have one place where all the artist/writers can stick their artwork that they might have trouble placing elsewhere. Specifically book covers. I would like to have a big conversation about book covers. :D I know they have one on the nanowrimo site, which is why I thought of it for here.

Just a thought.

Post subject:  Re: Room Suggestions

Art forums pose difficult problems, kind of like allowing users to upload their own avatars. Different people have different standards of modesty, and it is tough to define a good standard. I have avoided such issues as much as possible so far, but if we can come up with a really good, solid way to handle it, I think it would be a good idea to have something like that.

I will talk to the Marcher Lords about it.

Post subject:  Re: Room Suggestions

So, you just make standards. If modesty is the only issue than you just state that any images of characters must: x.

My dad has a very clear, simple definition, tunics. A tunic with sleeves that comes to your knees. I'm not sure where he dug up that definition but that's what he decided God clothed Adam and Eve in and that is his universal definition of modesty for everyone, everywhere. So you could say: All characters must be clothed from their shoulders to their knees. It shouldn't be that difficult to deal with.

Unfortunately it is a lot more complex than that, and moderating the room would be a ton of work for the forum team.

Post subject:  Re: Room Suggestions

Perhaps not so much an art forum, but more something like this:

The geography forum has been completely taken over by maps. That's almost all it is. But there's a lot more to geography than just maps. Perhaps you could create a sub-forum in geography for maps. Alternately, you could create another forum in the Scholar's Hall called Drawings. Not necessarily of people, but that's where we could put maps, drawings of buildings, flags, coats of arms, etc. Just explicitly state that characters can't be in that forum.

And if you ever do add a place to add character drawings, it is of my opinion that would fit better in the Character Development forum. Just a thought.

Post subject:  Re: Room Suggestions

The way we are leaning is to not have any separate rooms for drawings at all, and to remain the way we are on that head. Basically the way it is, you start a thread talking about a part of your world or story, and if you want, you can illustrate it. We will be announcing our decision soon, with more reasons, I think.

Post subject:  Re: Room Suggestions

I think it could be helpful to have an organized place for drawings to see how talented people are, if only for the fact that as an author who can't draw, I could use help illustrating my web presence and book covers. How can we fill this need by taking advantage of our large community of uniquely gifted people. If someone posts something in a section for approval, it should become clear right away if it is appropriate. The first time one isn't, that standard is set with that person to ease up or whatever.

Thanks for pointing me to this thread, Azlyn!

Hey guys, I've noticed for a while that the General Discussion room is one of the most active in the forum, and that there's a huge diversity of topics that get lumped together under that one heading. I wonder if it might be beneficial to split off some common topics from GD, and I have some suggestions for possible subcategories/other rooms. I'm not necessarily suggesting we should implement all the following as their own room; these are simply the categories that jumped out to me, and I offer them for your consideration.

"Casual Chat"
Would contain: lighthearted or fun things, forum games, humorous links.
Example threads that might go here:
-Either or game
-Typos
-How do I look?
-Chat Room Mishaps
-What's your favorite meal?
-You know you're a crazy fantasy writer when...

"Links"
Would contain: useful Internet links that don't seem to fall into a specific category.
Example threads that might go here:
-Your Blog
-Odd brothers - A Youtube sitcom starring me and my brother
-Buzzlings
-Youth for Christ concert
-YouTube

"Media & Literature Discussion"
Would contain: Discussions about media and literature that are not related to one's own writing endeavors.
Example threads that might go here:
-Hunger games fans
-Love songs
-What's your favorite Narnia book?
(Though it's possible that this category might collide with the Watchtower some, I suppose)

"Spiritual & Devotional"
Would contain: Discussions of a more serious/philosophical/theological nature, community efforts to assist each other in growth.
-I have a gift for you
-I'd Like to Thank...
-I'd Like to Encourage...
-Warrior of the Worlds: Prayer Partnering List
-Bible Memorization Accountability

This is the "Suggestions" thread, right? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I couldn't find anywhere else....... :/

Whenever I get on here (which, I'll admit, isn't as often as I'd like) I use the "Forum Index" button to get to the home page after browsing a few threads. But, being not exactly a pro at precision clicking, I usually click the "Logout" button instead. It's a royal pain to log in multiple times per visit. I propose the Logout button be moved somewhere else, such as the opposite side of the screen, above the "Rules | FAQ" button, or anywhere else, pretty much, besides its current location.

Thanks for your consideration, and I hope I posted this on the right thread.

If this is the right thread, can I suggest that we move the "Forgot your password" button from the login page to a few spaces down or something? I keep hitting it when I try to click the password box - it makes sense for it to be there, but still...
