Is there a way I could embed an image from dropbox similarly to how people can from the artwork gallery? The reason I want to know is that I want to be able to link stuff like this but have it be embedded in the post, not make people click the link to see it, I have no idea how (un)realistic this may or may not be, but I'm curious and can't seem to figure it out myself.

A detail that might help someone answer the question is that the linked-to image is a .PNG image coupled with HTML that makes the different bubbles clickable (only the ones with the little globe icons though) and show text when you hover over them, if they have a notebook type icon).

Is there no way I can embed this type of image (it wouldn't surprise me if you can't, but if you can, I want to, so I'm making sure)?

You can embed images if you have the image on a public server, such as Google's photo service. Take the [img] tag, and place the URL for your image inside it, and you can embed. Or upload an image from the post itself, and embed it that way. :)

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply! Like this? Image ....all it did was put the word "image" so does dropbox not count as a public server? Just to clarify, what do you mean by public server, do you mean a place anyone could find it and therefore, not my 'private' folder on dropbox?

Let me try it from google to see if I understand: Image

...interesting, so it won't work from dropbox but it will from google. But the problem is I want to have the image I link to in a place only I and those with the link can find it, if you know what I mean (I want to use it for my subforum when I have one, and that won't be available to people off of the forum).

You should be able to get images from dropbox to work, but you'll need to get the actual link to the image, instead of the link that dropbox provides, which is really a link to a page that lets you download the image =) When Dropbox provides a 'download image' button, right click on it and click 'Copy Link Location' - that should be the actual path of the image =)

Okay, thanks for the answer Andrew! :D But I can't find a download button actually, now I found one, but when I right click it is a dropdown menu from dropbox and doesn't have an option to copy the link location. :(, and I'm wondering if it wouldn't work in this case because I have two separate files that are combined, here's a screenshot showing the two files: Image

As you can see, the top one is the HTML for the one below, which is the image, when I copy the public link to the html file, it somehow links to the html and the image...but doesn't work properly here...will your solution still work in this case? If so, or if you think it might, where is the download button I should right click? Thanks for your help! :)

You should click on the image, and when it pops up, right click and click 'save target as', then use that as the path in the [img] you add on the forum.

Hmm, ok. Do you know what the mac equivilent to 'save target as' is? I tried 'copy image location' and now it's there, but the html part isn't, it's just the image without the links built into it...that's what I'm wondering, is it impossible to put a png image on here that is combined with an html file? I guess it'd almost be like trying to embed a miniature website because it has built in links, etc...
