Post subject:  House of the Knowledge Man

In the front of the Hall of Representatives in Dun del is a little house made of mud, and inside the little house is a man. He has stacks and stacks of clay tablets. The representatives go there and they speak to the man about things – everything. Whether there is a rule in place about windows in the Hall, how many representatives are in Dun del at the time, the square footage of land in The Point, and how high it is selling at, and more informal things as well, like whether or not a representative is likely to leave his place soon, or how favorable the representatives are towards a certain proposal. It is called the Aantro-nnaké: The house of the knowledge man. (It could also be translated as the house of the old gossip, but that is slightly less accurate and considerably less dramatic. ;))

What would you like me to write about? Anything you are curious about? Any questions about something random? Anything at all that you want to say and can't find the place for? This is the place.

This is very interesting!

I'd like to see a short story that shows from the man's perspective a typical day. :D

How often do people go in there? What does he keep records of? Are there things he doesn't keep records of?

Why a clay hut and not a fantastic office or something? :D

Heh. Yeah. Most days would be pretty unintelligible and boring and very...well, boring, to anybody who didn't live there, but if you picked the right day it could be pretty comedic. :D

About as much as small time shop, and varies the same amount. There are definite fluxes, usually corresponding to important things that are happening in Dun del.

Everything. * laughs * Everyone contributes to what he knows and what he keeps track of. The plurality of the actual tablets are records of the rules of the Hall, though. Actually, I'll bet he's probably the only one who actually has a record of all of them. Not even the official people (though who you'd call that is a question) keep as extensive records.

He doesn't keep records of the details of everyday politics and such, he keeps that in his head until it's not needed anymore.

If I make a thread about Dun del anytime, I would go into more detail, but basically they aren't very pretentious there at all. The Hall itself is a long, low building that's always dim and never locks properly. The office of the leader of the colony militia, you might say, is a hole in the wall, and he does most of his own foot work, except when he orders off his second in command to do it. :D

And anyway, why would he have a fantastic office? A clay hut works. * grins *
