I got this list from Lycanis, who got it from another HWer, who modified it from someone else. I was intrigued and thought it would be fun when Lycanis used it for Lecan, one of his characters.

This is already a long list of questions to write out all in one post, but I have three characters going through it. I began with only the first one, but then I thought that it would make more sense to do the other two as well. Lots of things would make more sense. 1. What is your real birth name? What name do you use?

I am Aanrasti. When I came to Nöbëde the people could not pronounce it correctly with ease, so they pronounce it a little different than I was named. I was also given a name when the people began to hear of me and my brothers – the Eedo. They gave us all names. But I do not go by it unless I am called it. I go by what people call me.

2. Do you have a nickname? What is it, and where did you get it?

* slight smile * None of my names resemble Nick. Though Samaan once called me Nŷubek. You do not know what that means, Rwebhu? * slightly curved lips *

No one can decide how old I am. They call me boy, but then they say that I am too old. I am hard.

6. How do you dress most of the time?

Aanrasti: Cambric undershirt, dun-gray shirt and breeches and sash. I also wear leather pélee, that come to my knees, armgaurds and singlet.

7. How do you “dress up?”

Aanrasti: I wash it.

8. Do you wear any jewelry?

Aanrasti: No. Only my knife.

9. In your opinion, what is your best feature?

Aanrasti: I hate bad people.

But the only object I possess is my knife. I do not prize it. It is useful. If it was not, I would not possess it.

Aanrasti: My father tried to execute me, and my mother saved my life. I have not seen either of them since. And my siblings were disowned at birth.

Now...my father still wants to kill me, if he is as determined as one would think from knowing his son. And perhaps my mother does as well. And perhaps there is another son in my place.

Perhaps they are all dead.

I do not know what my family is like.

2. Who was your father, and what was he like?

Aanrasti: He was the Taalaqa.

Rwebhu: The chief, or god, of an Ýte clan.

What was he like?

Aanrasti: He was strong in mind, and craved power.

3. Who was your mother, and what was she like?

Aanrasti: She was strong in mind as well. But she could not live against my father. Her god. She loved, though, more than he ever could have.

4. What was your parent's marriage like? Were they married? Did they remain married?

Aanrasti: She worshiped him. She only once went against his will, and that was in secret, and done without much thought. If my father ever found out, then he killed her. If he did not, then they are still married. My father needs a wife – he is the Taalaqa. And especially since he disowned me. He needs a son.

5. What were your siblings names? What were they like?

Aanrasti: My siblings were disowned at birth and given to other families in the clan, if there were any. I was not told. There was no use in telling me.

6. What’s the worst thing one of your siblings ever did to you?

Aanrasti: Not lived. * strange look in eyes *

Aanrasti: Died.

Aanrasti: I lived in a clan. All of my family, they were there.

Aanrasti: It is all a haze, I do not know what is first. I was young.

Aanrasti: I did not play with the men and women, I played with the little boys, and my mother and father were my teachers. There is no one I remember. Except for...the stranger. But I did not know him. I only remember him.

Aanrasti: Because he was the one that told me who my father was. And he is the reason I had to leave.

3. Who was your best friend when you were growing up?

Aanrasti: When? * laughs * I do not remember my friends I had before I was cast out. Between then and when I was a new young man, somewhere near to the age of sixteen, I had no friends. And from that age til now, I have had my brothers.

4. What is your fondest, childhood memory?

Aanrasti: Racing with the boys in the sunshine.

5. What is your worst childhood memory?

Aanrasti: My mother giving me the knife. And telling me to leave. And – not kissing me.

1. Do you have a job? What is it? If no job, where does your money come from?

Aanrasti: I have no job. My work is my work because Kýkhúd took it in his hands, and I go where he goes. My work is fighting slavers and creeds.

I cannot tell you where it comes from. That is a mystery that is beyond me.

Aanrasti: I enjoy my work.

Aanrasti: Thrën works with me, and he is like a little boy. We always are fighting, and I always win. You can decide if that is what your people would call 'getting along', Rwebhu.

I do not 'get along' with any of my other co-workers.

5. What is something you had to learn that you hated?

A 'hobby' is something which you do which you do not have to do, and which interests you, I believe. Just so you know.

Aanrasti: I have no hobbies.

Aanrasti: Thrën is in the habit of disliking himself. That is extremely annoying to me.

Aanrasti: I am ashamed of being angry with people because they would not give me any food. When I was a beggar in Dýe-over-the-mountains.

Aanrasti: That was only because I was almost dead already, and he had my knife!

Aanrasti: Many, many times, especially if you count wrestling with Thrën into the number. * smile * But real fights, even those have been many. With slavers and priests, over – slaves. And I won all the times, except one. That was one of the times I nearly died.

Rwebhu: And those have been plentiful, believe me....

4. What do you feel most strongly about?

Aanrasti: Kýkhúd and Thrën.

Aanrasti: Trust. It is rare.

Aanrasti: I believe in God. He is the Truth, the Life, the Power, and the Love. I am not altogether in anyone's religion, because no one's religion is altogether mine.

I agree with much of what the Kapyree people teach, however.

Aanrasti: It is hopeful, because God never will die. He is Life. And he is Hope.

It is hopeful because I will be alive. And if I am not, I will be dead.

9. Is an ounce of prevention really worth a pound of cure? Which is more valuable? Why do you feel this way?

Aanrasti: Yes. * laughs * Unless it already happened, in which case prevention would be quite useless. And if something going wrong and the cure is a valuable event. Then no.

10. What’s the worst thing that can be done to another person? Why?

Aanrasti: * quiet * It happened to Kýkhúd.

Rwebhu: Yes.... Why is it worst?

Aanrasti: Noone can destroy a man's life but himself. They can do what they like to him, but only his own choice can ruin him. No matter how he is hurt, he is not ruined.

But the closest a man can come to ruining another man's life is to force a man to be evil. They cannot force him...but they can come very, very close.

11. What’s the worst thing you could actually do to someone you hated?

Aanrasti: If I ever hated someone, they would... * pauses * I am... * pauses again *

I once hated someone for almost the half of an hour. He is cursed by me for the rest of his life. For years and years I did not even see him, but he is cursed. I...am not glad. He went bad because of it. That is the worst curse. But I do not hate him any longer, so I am not glad. I wish him happiness now.

If I ever really hated someone, he would not like it. That is all I can really say.

12. Are you a better leader or follower? Why do you think that?

Aanrasti: Follower. I think that because it is true. I could not lead.

Rwebhu: You would be very good at it...

Aanrasti: I know. But it makes no difference.

13. What is your responsibility to the world, if any? Why do you think that?

Aanrasti: I have no responsibility to the world. I have only a responsibility to those whom God has given me.

Aanrasti: My mother used to tickle me on my feet. But I am not ticklish anymore. It is a useless sensation.

Aanrasti: I have none. Kýkhúd gives me my work, and at present I have only a goal for the present. It is to find Samàn.

Aanrasti: Give it to the Mother. And then she would likely give it away part by part to others. I do not have a use for money.

Aanrasti: Samàn.

A nickname is a name that people you are acquainted with call you, that is not your real name. Though sometimes it is a version of your real name.

Kýkhúd: Nnââ is a name that the people call me. In Nöbëde all have two names – the one that is their own, and one that is the people's, which they give him. It is used when he is in authority, or esteem, or notoriety, rather than his personal name.

Rwebhu: That was a good explanation...I will remember that next time Nikki asks me about it. * glances at me *

Kýkhúd: Thirty six.

Kýkhúd: I do not know.

I also took a bit out of the middle of it when Thrën goes insane and we are trying to un-insane him and me and Rwebhu get into an argument and a metaphysical discussion. This post is already extremely long. But it is an important part of his character, so I will explain it in a short note (we aren't asking him to explain it better – even thinking about it too much will make him go mad, as was the case here). He is afraid of falling any kind of distance (meaning anything that's not tripping), rather like a phobia, but much more intense. To the point of insanity. And it's not a thing where if it actually does happen he doesn't mind, it just is even worse.

Anyway, the way the Ríintwar do names is different than the way we do. Everyone generally has a given name, generally some sort of group name (whether family or something else), and also a name which they are called publicly, when people are talking about him, or when a stranger or acquaintance is talking to him. He is given this name by the people. As well as a personal name given this way, most groups, organizations, such like, are also given a public name as opposed to the private name the members of the group call it themselves. By 'group' I mean any gathering of people that identify themselves by each other -- for example a family, a legion in the army, a religious gathering, so on.

And the Eedo was the name that the people gave to Aanrasti, Thren, and Kykhud. That is their public name. I do not believe they even have a private name, though...none of them were originally from the plains of Nobede, so they wouldn't have went with that custom.

Well, I was confused as to what exactly these three were to each other... at times, they seemed to hate each other, and at other times they seemed to be the best of friends...

Ah, so they're human? That was basically what I was wondering. (Although I also didn't know why they were called Eedo. Thanks.)

* giggles * Well, to clear that up, let me say that they are best friends, brothers, and they would die for each other without hesitation. However, spending fifteen years with someone breeds annoyances, and they like to tease each other about it. And most of the reason why Aanrasti says that Thren is annoying is because he doesn't like himself, and Aanrasti does. And the reason that they fight constantly is because they are practicing (same with the arguing). Is there anything else that made you think they hate each other? * thinks *

I have finished several books, and I am working on about eight more, but I doubt they would help with your suspense...they aren't about the Eedo, and you probably are never going to read them anyway.
