Throughout the history of Ccwiicc are times when the people ask God for something, and he tells them it will not be good, but they still beg it of him; and he does it. They are curses that they asked for.

One of the widest and most influential of these curses is one which affects technology, and one of the ones that they did not foresee the extent of at all. It was, simply, this: they asked God that nothing but themselves should have great power to make things happen.

See how that affects technology?

No turbines, no wind mills, no electronic engines, no steam engines.

:D

See, they only have things which are not powered, or else not powered by anything but themselves. They can have solar ovens – that is only a directing of the heat the sun is already giving them. They can have sailing ships – the wind is already going somewhere, they are only riding it. But a windmill is using not the wind but the energy of the wind, to grind or saw. And they never think of that, because God cursed them to be blind to those things.

Which makes for some interesting combinations of technology. :D

There are only a few times that technology ever got into a level similar to the level in our world today – they came up with ways to harness the cobhaic energies of humans (and/or began experimenting with the binding more thoroughly). Nothing like mad scientists with brains in canisters and wires connected to them – the people who give the energy are just normal workers – they go to the centers as their job, and have shifts, just like with any other industry. Just the labor is not physical.

Just to give a taste of what is in this world, I made a list for fun of a lot of the technologies used by the peoples of Ccwiicc at some points:

Cameras
Clocks
Solar ovens
Sailing ships
Compasses
Trebuchets
Mirror-blasters
Bellows
Treadle sewing machines
Black powder
Spinning wheels
Mechanical gates
Wingsuits
Pressure cookers
Spray bottles
Turning lathes
Hand-drills
Life support apparatus (nothing like what we have here, this one has to do with the cobha a bit more)
Microphones
Atlatls
Crossbows
Blowguns
Bows
Vices
Lamps
Handgrinders
Maps
Locks
Scissors
Looms
Wagons
Violins
Pianos
Concrete
Nitro glycerin and dynamite
Dirigibles
Hot air balloons
Paper
Pens
Water filters

(In the advanced technology):
Guns (unlike our guns, but they do the same thing – throw a bullet)
Computers (super advanced, beyond what we have)
Disguise technology (not sure what to call this, but it is sort of like the equivalent of being an octopus with an invisible car to drive around in, not to mention making your house look clean when it's dirty, and hiding that corpse in the corner of the room without moving it)
Holographic technology

0.0 You use wingsuits?

Yes, rather like the internet. In ways. Sort of. But none of my higher technologies have any direct correlation to higher technologies here because the method of powering and discovering them was so completely different. :)

It is called the Grid. The Passion developed it after they gained enough power in the Hall to make a law that mental experimentation was alright. By the time it was perfected, however, there was practically a governmental monarchy in the colonies, and when the government fell so did the technology, since they were trying to control most of it. :P So it did not last long. Especially since the other tribes resented, did not believe in, and did not understand it at all. That usually happens when the Eechil came up with a grand idea technology wise. :P

So am I. :D I think I'll post a thread about the mental experimentation the Passion was doing before it rebelled against the Hall, since I'm writing a story based then anyway right now.... I'm still trying to decide whether what they were doing was morally right or not. Maybe y'all can help me work it out.

Well, they exist in my world...I haven't fully figured out how/where they'll be used yet. :P But the short answer is YES! =D

That makes sense. :)

Aw, how sad. :P

Cool! Sure! I could try to help, at least. :D

* nods * Cool! The only place that I know of for sure that they were used were for messengers in the Waking War – Rwemun messengers. I don't have much detail on that though.

:P A lot of people thought so. In fact, General Nnaa's son – eh – hehe... sorry. I'll stop on the history lessons.

That sounds neat! I think that's similar to what I was thinking when I found them...they'd be used by a sort of militia based on extremely high cliffs. They'd be used as a messaging system and an ultra-quick response force or something. There's a thread I started about it, and some people had great ideas that I will probably use some variation of...do you want a link? :D
