Triarchy of man.

• Soul - Of Essence
○ Foundation. Bloodlines direct from Gods that are more pure have a closer connection with magic associated with their god.

• Mind - Of Experience
○ The more learning an individual receives, the more in tune their mind becomes with their ability to cast magic. Some say that the more in tune one is with their mind, the closer they are in tune with their own soul.
• Mixed bloodlines are able to tap into other magics. Pure bloodlines cannot use other gods' magic - easily, or sometimes at all.
• The more diluted the bloodline, the less connection individuals have to their God.
• Over a thousand years of attempted purity has failed, mostly. There are very few pure bloods left. Some retain power, and some are sequestered within specific holds and castles. Mixed blood rules the East Kingdom.
□ The above is important, because some say that if the most pure of blood are able to obtain [nirvana like state of mind], they will be able to reconnect with god essences that were born of them.
® A God's magic trumps every magic. Only god-magic can counter another god, and there are some deities that came to the world of Caicugen that are inherently more powerful than the others. This complicated dance of magic, reaching at-one-ment, has been the subject of study for an eon and a half.
◊ There is a legend that speaks of one god that has not yet left Caicugen. However, every family/tribe/clan that holds this legend always claims that their god is this lone survivor.
} In truth, it is Okri, the Gift-Bearer, but only those who have died can bear his magic.
– This is why the Dead Defying, Seraph, and Aria's magic is now staggeringly more powerful, since their deaths and resurrections.

• Will - Of Creation
○ The stronger "will", the more powerful the magic or potent the enchantment. It is unknown exactly what this is. Will is most nearly associated with emotions, as a magic order fueled by emotions is a magnitude "more" than the same order cast by someone twice as powerful but with no will behind it.
• This is sometimes why children blessed with strong magical power cannot control it, as their emotions take hold of their magic and cause chaos.

Lore - Magic has slowly been dwindling in potency. Although everyone is born with the power of magic, not everyone is able to utilize it as strongly as previous generations. There is a very real fear that as the connections to the past (through blood, God Instruments, and the desecration of holy places) are forgotten or destroyed, then eventually there may come a generation unable to perform magic at all. Around 40% of all persons are able to utilize the magic of their blood-right.

In successive books, especially the third book after the 72 years, there is a marked, drastic and sharp increase in this percentage. From 40% to nearly every baby born after the Three Year Schism.

Given your premise, how do you unscramble genetics to make most babies more “pure” godA and less godB than their mixed godAB parents?

From basic genetics, a godAB father and a godAB mother with 4 children could have (statistics):

godAA child
godAB child
godBA child
godBB child

With only the godAA and godBB children being more “pure blood” than their parents. So a 50% increase in pure blood births seems the best that a eugenics program could achieve.

Not sure. That's not so clear cut..... and if I was being totally honest, I kinda just threw that last bit about magical ability in to see if it fit in with everything else in the description.

The short and skinny is that because of how soul inheritance (oh hey, that's a neat phrase I'm going to milk) works, children have a higher chance of a greater affinity towards one god's mysteries. It's somewhat of a gamble. The right kids need to beat the right odds and come out with the right soul inheritance ability. I'm trying to ground prejudice against cross-racial breeding in the sense that some of these races were either brought from other worlds or made by other gods.

The idea of Caicugen is that gods came to this land from other spaces (universes). Some of these aren't gods, they're just really powerful spirits. The idea is that the middle kingdom was not made by any of the gods, but the gods that did come kinda set up shop for a bit then left. Hundreds of them did this, with a select few (the seven, some others) sticking around for a very long time.

But it's been forever since anyone has seen or made contact with any of these gods anymore. While their magic remains, the gods, demons, spirits, etc that made them have long since gone. So magic exists, but the connections that current generations have to the gods that made them are dwindling rapidly.
