When I first read Angel Fall by Coleman Luck, I remember being very surprised. I'm not sure what I was expecting going in, but I got something much more amazing and impacting than I could have imagined. One of the things that impressed (and edified) me the most was the amount of Scriptural truth tucked into the narrative.

Angel Fall is something of an "allegory," but in addition to the big plot elements I found lots of small references to biblical concepts. Situations, imagery, and dialog that all whispered of things I had read in the Bible. It seemed there was something on every page, and several times as I was reading Scripture came to mind that supported the ideas in the narrative.

For this week's activity, I'm challenging you to do just that - find biblical concepts in Angel Fall and Scripture to support them.

As you read the book, make note of the passages that speak to you. Post the page numbers (or a short quote) on this thread along with a Scripture reference that supports the concept. Post anything that jumps out at you - allegorical elements, ideology, meaningful imagery, anything that speaks of Christ to you. Nothing is too small or subtle; there are no wrong answers for this activity. The goal is to search for truth and find the Scripture to support it. You can write a commentary of why this passage speaks to you if you want, but it's not required.

For every reference you post, you'll earn 20 bonus points! Activity officially ends 12am CST June 30th.

I was able to find it at my library! But... Ah! My library card has too many fines and it wouldn't be ordered in fast enough to read this week. :P I'll read it at some point in the summer....

Yay! :dieshappy: Not yay. :P

However, I'm going to extend this challenge at least through next week. I've been discombobulated, plus my eyes started acting up again, so I haven't been able to reread it yet and post some stuff to get y'all started. Therefore, and because it's a long book, I'm going to extend this challenge. So you'll still be able to earn bonus points by posting Scripture, even if you didn't get the Book of the Week points.

If you started Angel Fall this week, go ahead and report such on the reporting thread before the end of Saturday. That way you'll still get the BotW bonus points. It's okay if you didn't quite get the book finished by the end of the week, as long as you worked on it this week.

And just as further incentive... if y'all get movin' and start posting some thoughts, you might - just might - get a personal appearance by the author. I can't promise that because of internet unreliability on his end, but if he does come we want there to be some posts for him to comment on, yes? :D

Ooh! I might be able to do it then. *Makes plans to borrow a family's member's library card until she gets hers back up and running* :P
