I know it's already begun, but still, I thought I'd ask. Anyone doing NaNo this year? If so, how is it going? What is your project?

I decided last minute that I would do NaNo, mostly because my sister was, even though I'm not sure if my project is really novel length. Probably more of a novella. But, hey, even if I just finish writing a novella this month, I'll be pretty stinkin' happy. So far, I haven't gotten any real writing done, but I have at least got the outline completed, so there is that!

How about you? Or, if you're not doing NaNo, I'd still love to hear what you're working on, or if you're like me most of the time, what you're not actually working on but are at least thinking about! Tell me all the things! :D

I'm not doing NaNoWriMo this year; since I started working full-time last week (with about an hour commute each way at the moment) I wouldn't have nearly enough time. The closest I'm coming this year, most likely, is watching Month of the Novel again this past weekend :)

In what little time I have, I'm hoping to write a chapter or two of The Invasion (which was supposed to be my big project this year before God upended my life back in February ... and for which I have a progress thread here on HW), and make my next several steps toward publication of Dreams and Prayers, my second poetry collection (and I have a progress thread for that too).

But we shall see :)

Ah, I remember watching the Month of the Novel last year sometime, probably it got brought up last November. At your mention of it, I watched it again, and it was fun seeing the comments on the HW chat room. Ah, the good old days.

I was reading your progress thread for The Invasion, which I had apparently missed seeing until now, and your story-crafting process sounds similar to mine. :P Which is to say, constant re-vamping of the whole thing. But it sounds like you're on a good track (which is really more than I can say for several of my stories). As you haven't posted an update on there since September, may I ask where you are at right now? :)

Meanwhile, on the day when I told myself I would actually start writing for my Nano project, I took approximately two hours to decide on names for all of my characters and locations and to figure out the precise set up to the beginning of the story. Now that that's done, let's hope that tomorrow I actually get to the writing?

While I have been known to make excellent progress and forget to update a progress thread or my blog or some such, in this case the silence there is largely because there hasn't been any progress. In some spare moments I've been turning thoughts about Chapter 2 over in my mind, but no words are written down yet.

I know that feeling well :)
