Has something ever happened to you, such that if you ever read it in a book, you would laugh at how unbelievably preposterous it was? Well... Today was such a day.
We had houseguests through a Christian hospitality network. We had never met them before. They had one child at home like my family, and their daughter was the same age as me. We both liked music. The list of similarities between our families went on hilariously.
Fast forward to this morning. I cleaned my cello strings because they have been squeaking, because mom remembered that might help. It did. So then I went down to the laundry room with the rags I used, and heard water. At first I thought one of them was showering in there, but we never use that shower. Then I thought maybe the laundry was running... or overflowing... I turned the light on, and saw the equivalent of a showerhead, or garden hose through a colander, pouring down onto the floor... out of the light fixture. After staring in awe, amazement, and horror for a moment, I took one step in, and found that the floor was covered in about a centimeter of water. Thankfully, I did not die. I called up that water was pouring out of our light fixture, and while Dad went to deal with that, I had to ask our guests to stop using the shower. Thankfully they were ok with that.
Apparently when part of the showerhead broke while we were cleaning yesterday, and Dad unscrewed and fixed it, the pipe itself cracked. When Dad checked the upstairs bathroom after the incredible light-up showered incident, the pipe felt loose, then came off in his hand.
I am soooooo thankful that the issue showed itself when it did. And that our house didn't catch on fire. And that no one got electrocuted. The shower is still broken, but as long as we don't use it, we should be good. And the light fixture is taped so we don't turn it on by mistake. Also, Dad randomly found a dead beetle today that turned out to be a female Eastern Hercules Beetle... so I now own one of the largest insects in the US...
All in all, I'd say this was an eventful and blessed day! Do you have a favorite unbelievable real-life happening?
