A music album has limitations. 70 minutes, I believe, is the limit. Not more, not less. (Give or take a minute or two.) Because of this it's likely we will not be able to use every song that will be made available to us, and it may come down to  choosing.

So, to start with, we're limiting submissions to songs that already include music. (Instrumentals will be discussed on another thread, this is for lyrical songs.) If you've written a song you'd like to be considered, post here with the song title, a bit of information about it, and a link to the lyrics and music if they're posted elsewhere. Please don't actually post any lyrics here yet. This is like the signup thread for music.

Likewise, if you know of a song that has been written by HWers, mention it! I know a lot of collaboration goes on in the Poetry Section of the Fireside, and not everyone down there may notice this. Link to any relevant information and we can go hunt down the author and composer if we need them! Please put each song into a new reply. Comments on previous nominations are welcome. :D

Nominations
Lullaby - Jordan Miller, Evening L. Aspen
Nightmares - Grace Pennington
Freshwater Tears - Katie Daniels, Elizabeth Kirkwood
Purple Sky - Katie Daniels
The Seeker - Jordan Miller, Aldara
The Forging of the Blade - Jonathan Garner
Enderion - Grace Pennington
Morgon's Lament - Katie Daniels
Ice Dance - Evening L. Aspen
Together - NotThatShort
A Slave's Cry - Elizabeth Kirkwood, Evening L. Aspen
I Run - Elizabether Kirkwood

Can we nominate others' songs? If so, with or without the permission of the people in question?

*Head/desk* I read that and promptly forgot.

However, due to the nature of this situation... I'll ask for permission first. :)

You're such a gentleman, Mark. :) I'll be nice and allow your nomination. ;)

Katie... Mark wanted to nominate my song Nightmares. You've heard it, so... I guess I'll let you decide. I would want to tweak it some, probably.

*listens to it again* Yep. With a little work and a few more instruments it could easily be the lead single for the album. :D

That may all be very true, but to get back on topic... there won't be an album to have a lead single if ya'll don't get busy with some more volunteer or nominated submissions!

(You're welcome, Grace.)

If we could get it licensed, I'd be willing to do a Josh Turner cover. Of Would You Go With Me. With my one-man-band.

Hey, I just came up with some basic stuff, half of which didn't make sense. You versified it. :D

Um, by the way, the maximum is 80 minutes, and the minimum is small enough we don't have to worry about it. Anywhere between 50 and 80 minutes is a good-sized album.

You know what, I suppose I could offer this one. I'm thinking about making a different version for my album, since this is a one-man-band mix and it would be better played by my whole band...so this special solo version could go on the Holy Worlds album.

A possible song is the one Seer wrote to Aldara's poem The Seeker. Of course, more instruments would have to be added and things, but it does have a general tune.

(I would summon Aldara and Seer to this thread, but I can never figure out how to summon someone successfully. )

I wrote a sort of burial song for the people I created. It's kind of sad and melancholy. It's called Never Forgotten. I'm trying to get myself together to record it and put a video up, it already has music and I sing and play guitar to it. It talks about the sadness of losing someone you love in battle but how they will keep fighting nonetheless ^-^

The Seeker would be awesome. I've heard that one, and it has definite potential.

That sounds really cool, NTS! Definitely put something up for us to listen to! :D

Audacity is a good free program, though it needs a LAME plug-in to make mp3s. And here are instructions for how to install the LAME program into Audacity. It sounds complicated, but it's the easiest way I know of...

I nominate Jonathan's instrumental song, The Forging of the Blade!

I also nominate Grace's Enderion song, unless she wants it on the future sci-fi music album instead.

EDIT: Oh, and while I'm at it, I'll mention that Jonathan and I both liked Eve's Ice Dance song in the other thread. :D

Whatever Katie wants, I guess...

I'd be open to writing a song as well. I could turn out a song or two pretty easily, along the same quality as Nightmares...

I downloaded Audacity, working on recording the song. Might have to get a better microphone first, though...
Has anybody read it?

You wrote it for sci-fi, but on the other hand, it will be a long time until the sci-fi album, so we could consider it as back-up for this album if needed. ;)

How are we doing for song nominations, Vanya? So we can keep track, here is the list of songs, at the time of my posting this:

Song Nominations

Lyrical songs:
Lullaby
Freshwater Tears
Night of the Purple Sky
The Seeker
Morgon's Lament
Never Forgotten
Hide Behind A Mirror
Nightmares

Instrumental songs:
The Forging of the Blade
Enderion
Ice Dance

I think that's all... Just so we can keep track of everything so far.

Who's is that first Lullaby, Azlyn?

Lullaby, the one Seer wrote as a poem then it was turned into a song.

Ooh! A deadline. ^_^

I went and added up the minutes for the songs we have so far, guessing at the ones I hadn't heard. So far we are up to roughly 30 minutes, give or take a few. So does anyone know of more songs? :D

Again, if you don't have enough, I'm open to writing one or two. :)

Actually, instead of Never Forgotten, I think this one I just wrote would be better.
The problem is, I have absolutely no clue what the tune or music for it is or should be! So I need some of you awesome composers to take a look at it, if you don't mind and you're not too busy, and perhaps help me out with it... The only instrument I can play is acoustic guitar, and even that not very well... So this is going to need MAJOR help if it's ever going to make it onto the album.
(On a side note, I tried recording my other song and it sounded terrible-I had to hear it played back to realize that it was extremely repetitive and boring and it stunk).

Well, here's the song, so no one has to click a linketh. ;) I'm open to tweaking.

Quote:
Together

When you're cold
And you feel alone
I'll be with you
You won't fight on your own

I'll be with you
Don't be afraid
As we fly through the night
I won't let you go astray

'Cause I know
When we fight together
Nothing can stop us
As we raise our banner higher
No one can touch us
When we fight together

Trapped in a maze
You can't find your way
I'll be the light
Scare the shadows away.

'Cause I know
When we stand together
Nothing can stop us
As we search for the answer
No one can touch us
When we stand together

Because I will
Never leave you
And I will
Never forsake you
We will
Fight together
Stand together
Together!

When it is over
You won't survive
Just wait and see
Soon we'll both be alive

'Cause I know
When we die together
Nothing can stop us
As we go to a place that's better
No one can touch us
When we die together

Open your eyes
And here we stand
On a high mountain
We made it, I'll take your hand.

'Cause I know
When we win together
Nothing can stop us
As we ride to victory
No one can touch us
When we win together

And as the smoke clears
We arise
I wipe the tears
From your eyes
Look around
The enemy has fallen
Hear the sound
Of the trumpets calling!

'Cause I know
When we are together
Nothing can stop us
As we battle side by side
No one can touch us
When we fight
When we stand
When we die
When we win
When we are
Together!

Ditto Jenny. I have a lot of songs set to music, some of which might not ever make it onto my own albums.

But... But Shorty! I wanted to hear that one. :beg: And it already has music, you said.

Here is the link to The Slave's Cry. I can't remember if Aspenae posted the sheet music in there or not... I know that there's a concept recording on another computer here too.

I've moved the discussion on the song "Together" to a new thread here. Let's keep this thread for nominations only. If y'all want to discuss a song further, please start a new thread or reply via PM.

Thanks!
