Post subject:  Plot change?

I am considering changing the way the plot line is constructed. Instead of starting off at the boring beginning, I'll have the main character in the middle of the action in the midst of amnesia. I'm also going to try to make a basic enemy... Like Heartless are the enemy in Kingdom Hearts. I'm thinking... Ink creatures called... uh... I dunno yet... It can't be something made up like Erico (Came up with that on the fly. Could be a good name though. :P)

I'll deal with the IC at some point. These creatures are at the command of Sarlin, a mystic who dabbled too deep into the dark arts and is now possessed and has the power to call upon these creatures to attack whoever and wherever he wishes. It is thought only he has the unholy power but there are others...

The idea is first thought that Sarlin is the main enemy but it is then seen that the real enemies are the king of the Skatros Empire and a creature that some call The Master...

Okay... To sum the storyline: Demiri wakes up to a startled Skatros named Ritz who is being attacked by strange, black inky creatures. She helps fight them off and the bird is grateful but more confused and angry more than anything else. Demiri doesn't remember much besides her name and some misty thoughts so she decides to follow Ritz on her journey to find the source of the ink creatures.

One day they are intercepted by three dragons: Klydin, Nikki (Nik), and Zip. They claim Ritz to be a kidnapper and attack. Demiri doesn't remember them so she defends Ritz. Her old friends flee with words that trigger feelings in her that confuse and frustrate her (her love for Nikki). Demiri tries to ask Ritz about her past but the skatros doesn't give her a direct answer. As the memories and the old, more skeptical, Demiri begin to show, she decides that her hope lies with the dragons she saw earlier.

The time that she sneaks away is a bad one. More ink creatures attack and her heart nudges her to go back to help Ritz, who she manages to save from the wave of beasts but the skatros is gravely wounded. Demiri no longer completely trusts Ritz but has come to care for her. An odd figure comes to them... Offering to help the injured bounty hunter.

This odd creature reveals himself to be a Teacher, someone who teaches those who have an Essence. This is a point where Elohim is introduced to Demiri and the creature, a skreek, tells her what Nik, Klydin, and Zip have told him about her past. It turns out that Ritz had kidnapped her for an unknown purpose. Ritz becomes concious and reveals that that is the truth. She did it for the purpose of giving her to Marlu for some unknown purpose. This conversation also pertains to a loss of faith in Elohim in Ritz due to the pain of her past. Yan tells Demiri that her friends are still out looking for her.

Demiri has recovered some more of her own memories and knows that she has her own past leeching the life out of her. Seeing a soft and vunrable side to Ritz and her friends out looking for her causes Demiri to see Sarlin the direct threat. Ritz falls unconcious again and knows that Ritz may not live much longer. Yan wishes to train her in her Essence, sensing one in her. Demiri refuses. She instead heads off to confront Sarlin, only to be ambushed by a legion of ink creatures. She is captured and taken to Sarlin's lair. He reveals that she will be taken to her father (in a cruel tone of course). [Autor's note: What does this mean??? Father??!!?]

Meanwhile the trio (Nik and co.) come to the rescue. An heart-felt conversation is cut-off by another wave of creatures. Klydin comes in with a surpriseing firey breath and Nik fights like he's not blind. Zip fights bravely at his brother's side. Klydin attacks Sarlin and appears to kill him. Soon after though, the ink creatures surround Sarlin's body and melt into the skreek to create a malformed beast boiling with unholy rage. Ink creatures grow from globs of dark matter dripping from his body. The four of them must now slay the beast. Demiri lays the last blow after an epic battle.
EDIT: Sarlin doesn't turn into some videogame-like boss. Klydin simply takes him out before Demiri can question him further about her father.

The book ends with a scene with Nikki and Demiri holding hands (presuming that memoires of him have surfaced) with Ritz next to her and Klydin in the background, looking in the direction of Marlu's fortress as the sun rises.

EDIT: I thought the plot line so far didn't give Nik and his friends enough 'screen' time. I also thought the plot line was too short for one book. The rest of the story line for the first book is the teaming up of Ritz, Demiri, Yan, Klydin, and Zip to go to Marlu's fortress, when ink creatures continue to attack them and other places across the continent of Rantis. Yan teaches Demiri in her Essence, a Peacekeeper. After uncovering evidence that Marlu is behind this, they go to his fortress (where Demiri also believes her father may be held). They sneak into the castle where a sequence of events lead to the death of Yan and the discovery that somehow someone managed to get the information out of Demiri's father. They find him in the dungeons. I'm not sure if I want to reveal Yonash's capture or not in the end... Cliff hangers are nice but not so nice sometimes... I'll end with an epilogue that indicates that there is a time of peace but foreboding lines the bitter-sweet ending.

Suddenly I think this story is going to become more epic. * _ *

YEEEEAAAAA!

Isn't it exciting when things just seem to fall together?
