One thing we should remember today is how this site came to be to begin with. Regardless of his motives in starting it, (see his blog post and some other random announcement he made,) a lot of hard work and dedication has gone into Holy Worlds over the past year. A lot of time and love has been put into it to make it what it is today. And while many, many people have been involved and worked to make it happen only one person has held it together and dreamed of it being what it is today. And that is Jay Lauser, known to us as Sir Emeth Mimetes.

He's put a lot of time an effort into surprises for all of us. And I think it's only right that he get a surprise in return. And so this is your thread to say thank you. Come in here and give him a gift as great as the gift he's given to you.

Thank you so much Jay! I really don't know what I did without Holy Worlds! ;) It has improved my writing so much, and made me think about things I hadn't ever thought about before. :D

Thanks for a great summer of writing craziness -- HW has been an integral part of my writing development. :)

Deepest thanks for all your work, Jay, not only for managing this forum but also for setting an example for all of us. The atmosphere of this forum is different than any other I've been on, encouraging people to be their best in every area, not just writing. The other members here, by their role-modeling and attitude, have inspired me to rethink my attitude on the forums. God bless you!

The highest praise I have for you comes straight from the dictionary. Your love of words is one that I share with you. Recently I described you as gracious, and then wondered if you had ever looked to see what the word actually means. It was the subject of a dinner table lecture at my house one night, and I remember it well. I looked it up today and knew I was not mistaken when I used it to describe you.
Quote:
Definition of GRACIOUS
1: a obsolete : godly b archaic : pleasing, acceptable
2: a : marked by kindness and courtesy <a gracious host> b : graceful c : marked by tact and delicacy : urbane d : characterized by charm, good taste, generosity of spirit, and the tasteful leisure of wealth and good breeding <gracious living>
3: merciful, compassionate —used conventionally of royalty and high nobility

Middle English, from Anglo-French gracieus, from Latin gratiosus enjoying favor, agreeable, from gratia
First Known Use: 14th century

Synonyms: affable, cordial, genial, hospitable, sociable

Related Words: agreeable, amiable, benign, benignant, congenial, convivial, friendly, kind, kindly, neighborly; accommodating, obliging; considerate, courteous, polite, thoughtful; cosmopolitan, sophisticated, urbane; approachable, attentive, outgoing

Synonym Discussion of GRACIOUS
gracious, cordial, affable, genial, sociable mean markedly pleasant and easy in social intercourse. gracious implies courtesy and kindly consideration <the gracious award winner thanked her colleagues>. cordial stresses warmth and heartiness <our host was cordial as he greeted us>. affable implies easy approachability and readiness to respond pleasantly to conversation or requests or proposals <though wealthy, she was affable to all>. genial stresses cheerfulness and even joviality <a genial companion with a ready quip>. sociable suggests a genuine liking for the companionship of others <sociable people who enjoy entertaining>.

*Clears throat* Well, I guess I won't protest too loudly, Katie. But... um, well, those of us who are his siblings know... well... things. :D

Anyway, it's really exciting to see what God has done, Jay, both with this forum and in your life. :)

Hmph. Even those of you who are his siblings have to admit he's gracious, in a least part of the definition.

And besides, I'm rather annoyed with him right now and still think he's gracious, so that doesn't alter my opinion. :D

Thank you, Sir Emeth!
Holy Worlds has truly been a blessing to me. It has helped my writing, creativity, and has caused me to think outside of the box more. :D
In my opinion, HW tops the Rebelution forum, but that's a personal note.

Thanks again!

Yes, Carissa and my other siblings know things. :pale:

But I do want to say this.

I didn't use to be the way I am now. I used to be the exact opposite of every one of those attributes. I, in fact, strove against everything to be as un-gracious as I could. It took a very large disaster to bring me to my knees and see that God was worth it.

And since then progress has been slow. I see all too clearly how little I have improved, and how far I have to go. I do not call myself gracious at all. I can act gracious at times by the merciful grace of God, but not as often or as consistently as either He or I or anyone who has day to day contact with me could wish.

But I do thank you, you are a boon to me. You encourage my heart, and you help me to go on. Many thanks. :)

Thank you Jay for pointing me in the direction of the Forum. It has been a great blessing in my life. It has allowed me the ability to take some moments away from my own blessed, but very chaotic life (I call it serene chaos), and just bask in God honoring insanity. My family is wonderful, and I have grown over my time here to view many of you as part of my wonderful family. Thank you for extending my blessings (my spiritual family) and encouraging us all to maintain Godly order through all of our insanity.

The Lord say ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things: enter you into the joy of your lord.’ I am excited to be a small part of what the Lord has orchestrated in your life and service to His kingdom. He has added to your number, and given you a brand new site. When we are faithful He trusts us with more, even the smaller things in life.

God Bless,
Kaitlyn

P.S.
Funny how the hardest of situations are often tools the Lord uses in shaping our destiny.

Who can say they haven't been exactly the same? I thank God for what he's done in your life. I can only try to be as much of an encouragement to you as you are to me. :)

Thanks, Jay! This forum is amazing. I love the atmosphere here!

Everyone is human. You can't be perfect. We've all made mistakes. We should thank God that we aren't worse than what we already are.
